It has AMI type and 1M size. BIOS for ThinkCentre M52E has Phoenix type and 512K size.
So your friend lied to you.
Your motherboard doesn't support VRM11. So at first you can try to make a hardware mod for booting Conroe.

I think you are right.
I find the bios is Phoenix on another M52E !
I think it better to give up trying.
Thank you very much!
Hello, i'm new to this forum and even newer to mod BIOSes.

This is my problem:

I have an old IBM (Lenovo) Thinkcentre M52 8215 that i'm upgrading: new ram, HDD, ecc. But there's a thing that i can't upgrade: the cpu.
Now, the pc has a Intel Pentium 4 640 (http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SL7Z8.html), and i want to install a Intel core 2 duo e6400 (http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SLA5D.html), but the stock bios doesn't allow that, even if the cpu is supported by the chipset, an Intel 945g. Someone, on this forum alrealdy tried that (https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-L...ode-update), but the flashing program doesn't allow to write the bios that someone modded on the other post.

So, i'd like to know if someone can teach to me how to add the microcode and make that cpu work, or if someone can do that for me (i already thank a lot that person).

The BIOS file can be downloaded from here:https://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc...y46usa.exe , and the biosfile is called:$image2E.usf
And the microcode can be downloaded from here: https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-775-mic...-08-02.zip , and the file name is called: cpu000006f2_plat00000001_ver0000005d_date20101002.bin

I will attach the files here:
BIOS:  (i renamed the .usf extenstion to .bin)
microcode: (the specific microcode for the cpu i'd want to install has)
Post a screenshot of third (Mainboard) tab of CPU-Z.
Explain exactly what happens when you try to boot with your E6400.

This is the screenshot that you requested - https://i.imgur.com/yJefhsU.jpg

What happens when the E6400 is inserted?
When i try to power the pc up, the pc wants to start but immediately shuts down, and it cycles like that.
This motherboard doesn't support VRM11. So you can't use CPUs with Conroe core.

ok, thank you even if we can't make it work.
i have fund at home an intel core 2 duo E4600 (http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SLA94.html). Can this be used in my motherboard?
In theory, the chipset supports it.
Chipset supports it but this motherboard doesn't.

ok, so i'm stuck with the original processor for now.
You can try to install Pentium D.
