Hello I want to ask if someone knows if the HP dual core MBs for the First gen i CPUs are capabable of running an Quad Core (i7 840QM) or is that technically impossible because of the Switchable Graphics (or closer with the Intel FDI). When i've tried this my PC won't even start it just started short and blinked once.
I tried it also with a no Whitelist BIOS Mod.
Or is there another way to get this running? If you think this isn't possible, could you please tell me why. And would be the i7 640M a better option. (Currently is a i5 460M running)

One last question: During the Upgrade Process, one of my RAM got defect. Could that have something to do with it?
Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with current CPU.
Show a photo of stickers on (or near) slots for memory.

I can send Screenshots this evening, because I am working right now. But as far as I can Tell it is according to HP one of the Boards in the Attachment. The Socket should be PGA988 (What is WIMAX?) The current BIOS at the first try was the F.29 Insyde. (sp55299.exe) and at the second attempt it was the NWL Version of the sp55299.exe from this Forum (also F.29) The Components are https://support.hp.com/at-de/document/c02541738.

I will post CPU-Z Results ASAP this Evening.

Thank you for your Answer.

So i reinserted the RAM Modules 5 Times and now they work. Looks like a unstable contact. But here are the pictures. But keep in mind, that I have installed the No Whitelist BIOS right now. Both RAMs should be capable of running 1333MHZ (PC3 10600S).

My Pictures are to heavy so i put it on Google Drive. Hope thats okay, otherways tell me how to do it the right way. Thanks

You have 630280-001 (Quanta LX6) motherboard without support for quad core CPU.

Thank you very much. But why is this like that. I mean HM55 should support the CPU and PGA988 also. Are these Power Consumption Mechanism or severed Lanes on the PCB for Quad Core or has this something to do with the Intel FDI?

So every Arandale Dual Core should work? (i7 640M)
Motherboard Quanta LX6 has some revisions, including with support for quad core CPU. E.g. 630278-001
You can try to rework your motherboard using this schematics.
Current BIOS has support for all CPU with Arrandale core.
