Hello!

I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E530 and I want to update CPU microcode (I have 2030M CPU). How do I do this? Replacing PAT files doesn't help. Attaching BIOS update package for Windows.

Please help update the microcode.
Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with current CPU.
Why do you want to update the microcode?

Why do you want to update the microcode?

Attaching screenshots.

I've done more research. $0AH0000.FL2 file in archive is the BIOS. When you open it with UEFITool NE, you can see the microcode, but UEFITool NE doesn't support replacing. Old UEFITool cannot open the section with microcode.

Also I've tried doing winflash /sd /sn /vcpu 306A9.PAT /file $0AH0000.FL2 - this ends with error "183 - Failed to update microcode - Status 107". Same with dosflash (tried booting from USB flash created from bios.img extracted from h0uj18wd.iso - CD image for Lenovo E530 BIOS update).

I want to update microcode to mitigate Spectre vulnerability.
Make DOS USB-stick (e.g, by Rufus), download and unzip all files for the modded version of CHECKUP7 to this DOS USB-stick.
Download latest microcode for CPUID=0x206A9), rename it to PEP.DAT and copy (with replacement) to this DOS USB-stick.
Boot from this DOS USB-stick and make a photo of the screen with results.

Same image for 10 minutes. Is it running?
What's kind of DOS you selected in Rufus?

I seen only one integrated: FreeDOS. So that's what I chose.

I've also tried booting from bios.img, it has PC-DOS 6. Same result.
OK. What's file you can flash by "standard" method?

I don't quite understand the question, but here are the links:

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/h0uj18wd.iso - ISO image for booting from CD (with geteltorito on Linux you can extract bios.img for writing to USB flash)

https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/h0uj18ww.exe - update package for updating from Windows (you can extract all files just by running the exe on any Windows PC)

Anyway, there's a folder H0ET98WW with 2 files: $0AH0000.FL1 and $0AH0000.FL2.

$0AH0000.FL1 is Embedded Controller Module firmware

$0AH0000.FL2 is UEFI BIOS firmware.

Also attaching screenshots from UEFITool (showing microcode in UEFITool NE without replace, and "Unknown" section in old UEFITool).

No, it's full backup of BIOS.
What's file that I should modify - FL1 or FL2?
