Dell Vostro 460 motherboard, H61 chipset. H61 supports i5 3470, i7 3770, etc. But Dell did not update the BIOS.

Deathbringer, can you add micro codes? Maybe add BCLK?

BIOS: https://downloads.dell.com/bios/TR-A06_QS.EXE

I have not bought the motherboard, I will only buy it if I can get Ivy Bridge to work.

Edit: Never mind, it's H67 not H61. Ignore.
Adding microcode doesn't add support for new CPU.

I realize that chipset H67 may not support Ivy Bridge. I thought Dell was just lazy. But maybe Ivy Bridge can work on H67?

Chipset H67 supports CPUs with Ivy Bridge core.

I was under the impression that H67 does not support it.

One problem with the Vostro 460 is the GPU and WiFi whitelist. Can you see if you can remove this?

OK.

i5 3470 is still too expensive for this motherboard, I will get vostro 430 motherboard instead, for cheap Xeon X3470. I have questions for when it arrives, like BCLK and QPI. Chipset is H57 Express.
