Hello

A few months ago I planned buying a X1, with a friend we ordered (before I even got my laptop) two Sierra Wireless EM7455  (idVendor=1199, idProduct=9079).

In the meatime I couldn't afford to buy the laptop, had to wait, and ended up having the 6th Gen instead of the 5th. Of course this card is not whitelested in the 6th gen and I get the famous 1802 error at boot.

I would really like to make it work but I have little to no background regarding whytelist and BIOS stuff (this is why I'm asking here).
If I did my research correctly, I would need a physical access to the BIOS Rom in order to dump it, modify it and re-upload it, is that right ?

I bought a CH341A programmer and a SOIC8 Test clip but I have to say that I'm not an hardware guy at all and I have no clue on where to find the harware spec (or even locate the ROM chip on my laptop).

Could you give me a hand ? Am I going in the right direction ?

Thanks
Best

Hi
Your actions are premature...
I think your bios has a RSA signature
First make bios dump
Check your PM
Hello,
I am having the same problem trying to install a HP branded WWAN module on my X1 carbon 6th generation. Is a proper bios (without whitelist) available for this model?
Thanks a lot
