Hi DeathBringer, can you add the Xeon W5580 support to the HP Proliant ML350 G6? It currently does not work, no beeps or otherwise. Works fine with E5530 x2, and E5620 x2, but not single or dual W5580.

This is a microcode problem, not a chipset problem.

Here's a link to the latest BIOS with the Spectre fix.

Post screenshots of first (CPU) & third (Mainboard) tabs of CPU-Z with supported CPU.

Later, girlfriend is asleep and machine makes loud beeps. It is in my room right now and not going to move.

Edit: here is one without Mainboard tab. This is from saved.

OK, post it later.
Tell sSpec of your W5580. Did you test it in other system?

They are both SLBF2. http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/SL/SLBF2.html

They work in PowerEdge R710, but I have more efficient CPU in that, E5620. 2U server=hot, E5620=not so hot.

Here
W5580 and E5530 use common microcode. So I think it's high power problem.

Any way to solve?

And yes, E5530 have 80W TDP, and W5580 have 130W TDP.
It's hardware problem.

What part (Southbridge, etc) is at fault?
