I can't seem to update my bios on my Gateway ZX-6971 to a later version. Says its not compatible with my older bios. I am currently using bios P01.A2. But can't seem to update to the newer P02.A1. Which supports Ivy bridge? There is also a P11.B0 bios. Not sure what that one is. I was wondering if someone could take a look at them. And see if they might be able to help me get Ivy Bridge support working. I would like to upgrade the cpu.

Might need whitelist removed as well.
Show a good photo of BIOS chip on your motherboard.

It's 25Q32BVSIG with 4 MB size.
But P02.A1 requires 8 MB size.

So no way to get ivy bridge to work?
One way - solder new BIOS chip flashed with full 8 MB BIOS.
Try to find full BIOS dump for IPISB-AG REV 1.06

Well i am not very good at soldering. So ill just buy a board from a ZX-6980. Which came with ivy. Same board just different revision. The newer revision has more sata ports anyways. So i can install more drives.

You wouldn't happen to know if gateway whitelists ssds? I couldn't seem to get the microsata port to work. Or maybe there is some sort of jumper/switch to enable the port. I guess it could just be disabled on my revision.
Whitelist removal is offtopic in this section.

Hello. How about Ivy Bridge CPU (I5 3475S) ? Is your bios mod me help?
Thanks.

No, only Sandy Bridge is supported by this BIOS.
Only BIOS chip replacement with BIOS from IPISB-AG REV 1.06 can help. But it has 8MB size.
