hi there everyone im hoping someone can help me with a problem im having now i have 2 mobos one is GA-965p-ds3 Rev 1.0 and the next is ga-n650sli.ds4l rev 1.0
my problem is i didnt understand about 65nm and 45nm proccessors so i went and bought a q8300 which isnt supported in either board yet if im not mistaken both boards have the capability to run the q8300 but its the bios stopping me. i have been doing some research which came across bios modding. i have researched into how to do it but to be honest with you i dont understand most of it so i was wondering if anybody could please help me get my cpu working in 1 or both boards please any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou
Would like to do the 771->775 mod, and run Xeon Processor in my Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, rev 3.3 motherboard.

Currently if I install the Xeon CPU, the machine will post, and I can get into the CMOS setup screen...Inside the CMOS setup, it recognizes the Xeon E5440 CPU. But once  I got out of the CMOS setup, it stuck at a black screen with a blinking cursor.

I was told that to make this properly, it is required to inject the Xeon CPU microcodes into the BIOS.

CPU:    Xeon E5440 (C0)  CPUID = 10676h
BIOS:   Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 F15C

Thanks!

Hi, I have successfully updated the microcode for CPUID = 10676h from Rev: 0C to Rev: 0F

I have attached it below. Flash with necessary tool for your motherboard.
Is it possible to mod a bios for a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 REV 1.0 motherboard in order to make it work with the E8400 (and other 45nm cpus) ?
Despite using the latest F14 bios https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-...rt-dl-bios,the motherboard's revision is too old to support the E8400. It's supported from the revision 3.3. The system wont post; no error messages or anything-just plain black screen
The cpu SPEC code is SLB9J. The cpu stepping is E0
My cpu is supported in the latest F14 bios (which i have provided a link for) but only works with the rev 3.3
CPUID is 01067Ah
I'm unable to get the photo of the AIDA64 cpu id because i can't get the E8400 to work.
Post a screenshot of third Mainboard tab of CPU-Z.
Find C2D E7x00 or Pentium E5x00 and E6x00 to test.

This motherboard hasn't support for FSB=1333 Mhz.
So you can't use C2D E8x00
