I have a feeling this BIOS has long since been unlocked, and I did look through the page of confirmed Insyde BIOS mods, but I'm unfortunately not sure which one is the right one, and definitely don't want to brick the laptop on an uneducated guess. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I came here wondering if MSATA SSD support was possible to be added, as the laptop has a spare mSATA slot that was meant for a WAN card. this thread gave me hope that this was possible, as a helpful user linked the OP to this thread. But the OP's was a dv4 model, so I figured I'd double check before barreling in head first.

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: After spending an hour or so searching the site, the one BIOS mod that seems like it'd be the one to try is the one linked in this thread. Would appreciate confirmation on this! Thanks!

EDIT 2: Bit the bullet and tried Camiloml's sp48953 BIOS. It was the correct one for my machine, so that make me feel a little better about my understanding of all the hard work everyone does here. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything in regards to MSATA compatibility; the machine still doesn't recognize it. If anyone can provide some insight into whether this is or isn't possible, I'd appreciate it. In the meantime, at least I'm whitelist free. Thank you, Camiloml!

EDIT 3: Just tried dropping an Intel 7260 wifi card in here....and it looks like the whitelist is still present. Hello darkness my old friend.

EDIT 4: I'm an idiot. I didn't realize the unlocked BIOS was not the same as the BIOS with the whitelist removed. Re-flashed with Camiloml's sp48953_NWL BIOS from their repository, and the 7260 up and running! Bluetooth doesn't seem to be recognized, and I'm still curious if mSATA SSD support was ever possible, but at this point I'm happy with what I got! Hopefully this post consisting of me talking exclusively to myself is helpful to someone in the future!
