Hi,
I want to unlock AMI bios menu, I know the CPU I installed in this laptop can do more. Have advanced power settings for i5 450m, change settings such as power on when power cuts out and stuff like that, just the full menu with settings. I need the laptop to return back on when power is lost. The settings visable are useless..
Need this sucker to run headless under my closet for my TV & media.
Got on the board flashed 1681IMR VER.10B, I can dump it if you need. I also will dump the rom as back-up just in case.
Tried AMIBCP, UEFITool, MMtool. not able to open up the bios region with any kind of editor.
I just need it to work but MSI decided I don't need 90% of all settings that are in proper laptops like Thinkpads for example or pro workstation.
Version I found online because it's a MSI what do except from MSI. its a garbish, trash..
Got another MSI here, only a couple years old, support from website is
removed, have fun searching for old drivers and bios updates when the manufacturer drops support !

I could not find any newer version as 5.2.0.23. Where did you got 4.55 from? I tried to extraxt region and load it on the old version but nothing.
Let me search for this version. I might find it on google now. Didn't knew there was a 4.55 version.

lucklily i have ida and all tools now, let me brick this sucker a few times and upload the modded bios, if i will succeed.
Solved. I modded the bios & make new nice modwire junky for in circuit programming, no more brickz.. I have new bios, there is no original copy on the inet of this hw piece spi rom.. Let me attach it, i will try more modding. If you have nice mods share them I test them for you x) now we contiune with IDA trail & errors.

ps yes, i cut the laptop in half, it was ruined by liquid damage, fixed it but keyboard, screen and battery was also messed up or dead. So I cut laptop in half to make super small form factor x)

too bad.
whats invisable in advanced, i tried unlocking it but it all is already "Show: Yes". I try and set Access/Use from Default to USER. No difference.
Any ideas?

Yes ,this model no hidden tabs ,so that you can see at amibcp is all designed options .
This bios is type of aptio 4 bios ,so you need version 4.[censored] amibcp to open bios file.
Version 5.[censored] is for aptio v bios.

Also any fun ideas or useful things to add to this bios ?
If there is no menu to unlock I guess the fun ends here, but I was able to edit options and test them, they work. But when I change them I cannot change it anymore but only by flashing because the menus are not there. I tested this with fastboot I disabled it and it worked, so I know changing settings works. I used 4.55 and it works only UEFITool said there was a invalid checksum and some other stuff. I even got this with the dumped untouched bios file. So I don't know whats up with this.
