Hi.

I want to upgrade my current laptop with i5-2410M (Sandy Bridge) to a quad core Ivy Bridge CPU. I want to upgrade to Ivy Bridge because I need DX11 and updated drivers for Windows 10. I searched many places and there is no clear answer which I can upgrade or not. Some people say it's not possible, some people say I can do it with BIOS update. Intel says only some models of Ivy bridge CPU's are supported (Ending with "E"), but I don't understand why other CPU's can't run.

From what I understand, I need to update:
* CPU Microcode (I already did that thanks to Meltdown/Spectre)
* Intel ME7 to ME8 (I don't need any of the functionality of the ME, I can remove it too if needed.)
* VBIOS (I have 2089 )
* Chipset (???)
* OROMs (???)

I have modded my own BIOS before with PhoenixTool. My chipset is HM65 mobile and i have a G2 (PGA988) socket.

No, nothing helps with it.
