Hello Guys,
i recently bought this Lenovo G580 (2189) and upgraded the cpu in it from an i3 2328m to an i7 2670Qm, everything works perfectly except the fact that cpu does not go over 2.20 Ghz , i did everything possible in my capacieties but i think the problem is in the Bios is there anyone able to help me resovle this?
Thanks in advice
P.S Sry for the bad english
Does the BIOS correctly identify the model of the new CPU (the i7) ?? If it does correct it properly it isn't the microcode.
If the BIOS gives you any sort of message saying "Unsupported CPU" or "Unknown CPU" then we can have a look at modding the BIOS ....

I need TXT report of
CPU-Z from your friend's laptop. Or just a serial number of his Lenovo laptop
BTW: I need a serial number of your laptop too.

I mean these version with
Socket G2 (FCPGA988)
6ypamob
Your laptop is based on HM70 chipset. This chipset has well known problem and can't run i3/i5/i7 more then 30 minutes.
It can't be solved by BIOS patch. Only hub replacing will help. Or you can replace whole motherboard to new one with HM75, HM76 or HM77.
Another solution: put your laptop to sleep state every 25-29 min. This reset a timer. You can use Task Scheduler to do it.

Hey Guys
I have tried upgrading the CPU on my Lenovo G580 from the original Celeron (B830) to:
SR0TD (Intel Core i3-2348M)
SR04R (Intel Core i3-2310M)
SR0MZ (Intel Core i5-3210M)
All 3 processors work fine, but the laptop switches off after 30 - 40 minutes.
I have checked the thermal grease and monitored the temperatures between 40 - 55 degrees.
Is a bios mod needed to resolve this problem? Original Bios version (62CN97WW)
