Hello everybody,

Wishing to upgrade the CPU of my old HP 6830s, I thought I'd first and foremost update the bios to the latest available version, which I found to be the F.20.

Question 1: is there a most recent BIOS version?
Question 2: do you happen to know which is the most powerful socket P processor supported by this BIOS, other than the T9400 listed in the official (old) maintenance manual? (Download link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01550099.pdf).

The F.13 upgrade says that it "Adds support for the Intel Xeon and Intel Core 2 Processors". Does that mean that also F.20 does? Can I therefore assume that any Intel Core 2 processor that was put in production by the date in which F.13 was out is supported?
Post a screenshot of third (Mainboard) tab of CPU-Z.
Here the screenshot, thanks
You have newest version of BIOS.
T9400, T9550, T9600, T9800, T9900, X9100 are recommended for upgrade this laptop.
Thanks for your answer, so in your opinion i cannot install this one https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/CPUs/Intel/C...X9300.html ?

Because it's in this list of compatible CPU of mainboard.

Here the list: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(ch...press.html
I think your laptop can't boot with selected CPU.
A few motherboards with Socket P can boot quad cores CPUs. It's hardware incompatibility.
But you can try the motherboard's mod for quad core CPU supporting.
Thank you so much, so we cannot be sure of the compatibility with QX9300.

Instead we're sure of the compatibility of the X9100 right?
Right.
