Hi, idk if this is the place to post this but i am in need of help Big Grin.
I have recently just got a new ssd drive with trim, and installed windows 7 on it.
I wanted to change the sata controller to AHCI, but as i went through the setup in the bios, the only options i could choose for it was sata 1+2 and sata 1 and disabled. So, I decided to look for a bios update for my MO, knowing that it is a bit old. I thought this would fix my problem. But then, another problem arose and it looks like I can't find a proper update for my bios. Right now it is 5.13 and I think its a Award Phoniex. The mo is Asus M2N68-LA , and it is from a set hp computer I bought. I tried the bios updates on the hp site itself, but all they say is my computer doesnt reach the requirements for the bios update. Do I really need a bios update so I can activate this trim option / ahci and if I do, where can I get one Big Grin. Thanks!

PS. tell me if its in wrong section Big Grin

Interesting , possibly a screenshot showing this message?

If the update is meant for your machine you can always flash it manually using a bootable DOS USB (Follow the tutorial on this site) and awdflash (because its an award bios)

First, I open the installer - http://img130.imageshack.us/i/step1v.jpg/

Then, I agree with the terms -http:// http://img704.imageshack.us/i/steo2.jpg/

then, my comodo asks me if I want to continue - http://img96.imageshack.us/i/step3nr.jpg/

then I wait a few seconds and this pops up - http://img694.imageshack.us/i/step4u.jpg/

Yea Q_Q - I'll prob try what you recommended, unless you no of some other way?
If you have windows 7 then thats the problem as the HP site says this:-

•You must be logged on as an administrator to install this update.
•You must have a Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
•You must have an M2N68-LA motherboard.
•Blank Recordable CD (CD-R).

Compatibility is only for Vista , try right clicking the EXE , go to properties , Compatibility Tab , Select "Run For Windows Vista" and tick "Run as administrator" . Click Apply , then try it

Hi,

I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post so I hope I do it correctly. I have the same kind of comp (HP) and same mother board and tried to log on as administrator to update BIOS and I still got the message that my comp did not meet the min requirements. I am trying to flash it in manually but I am really confused. I downloaded the HP disk format tool. Here is where I am getting confused:

"It will then want you to point it to a DOS image folder. You will need to download and unzip this DOS image (do NOT use your own DOS image) here Once it has completed formating your drive, open up the USB in My Computer. Verify that there are only three files on the USB, making sure to unhide protected operating system files in explorer to see them. If you see three DOS files, you are ready for the next phase."

I can't figure out how to get the DOS image over to the format tool. Plus the image file says it is a windows 98 something or other.

HELP!
Hey case1,

Looks like you are referring to our bootable usb guide. The Windows 98 zip is a strippeddown bootdisk, which serves as a great DOS image for BIOS flashing. If you ran the hp disk format tool, and pointed it to the extracted folder from the zip, the DOS image is already on the USB and ready to be booted.

Please reply if you need more help clarifying things,
