This motherboard does not support 0.13 micron Athlon XP Thoroughbred processors, only 0.18 micron Athlon XP Palomino. I have one Athlon XP 2400+ Thoroughbred and when I try it, I get no post, no display, no beep. But it is ok with one Athlon XP 1800+ Palomino.

Some helpful information, part 1: I found this bios version of another ECS motherboard, the K7VTA2 (v2.0) with older chipset, and take a look on the last release:

Note: To recognize new AMD Thoroughbred CPU still ~ 2600+ (FSB is 133MHz)

Some helpful information, part 2: And there is a bios version of the K7VTA2 Pro (V3.1) with the same chipset of the K7VTA3, and it works with Athlon XP Thoroughbred processors:

I don't understand why the ECS didn't released a similar bios version to K7VTA3.

Please, help me! Sad
No one help to this good old motherboard? [Image: male22-male-cry-tears-smiley-emoticon-000064-large.gif]
Sorry for the delay in reponse, we have been very busy lately and have people on vacation. Meanwhile, there was a lot of work done to add support for this back in the day, I should have the right tools to do it.

Thanks for your patience, I will report back soon.

Man, thank you very much! I will wait.

You guys rock! Smile
Flash at your own risk! All K7 support should be added, as well as several bus a nd display fixes etc. that were common at the age of these award BIOSes.

Hello TheWiz,

Well, I tried that and I noted new informations of the processor on the post screen. It is ok with my Palomino 0.18 micron. Very good!

But, then I tried the Thoroughbred processor and I got the same problem... no post, no display, no beep. Sad

Well, I am starting to think this is a motherboard hardware problem... bad architecture problem. What do you think?

Thanks for helping.
I'm not entirely sure. I ran a patcher that should've enabled full support for K7 CPUs so I'm going to have to look at it again.

Cool man!

On my first forum post, I put two motherboard bios, with one older and one same chipset, that support the tbred pocessor. Maybe it can help.

Thanks again!
Hey, I found another KT266A motherboard with Tbred support. But, this is ASUS A7V266-E motherboard. Bios file attached...
