ijust got a laptop...a freebie..its a Latitude C840.
it has no HDD and a bios issue apparently corrected in a recent bios update prevents it from booting a CD.
once a drive is installed that will stop i hope but the fact that it does not support boot from external device like flash drive is disappointing.

is it possible to add this capability thru a modded bios?

thx

you could try flashing with the latest bios from Dell (A13) to see if this feature is added. Otherwise its not possible to add this function in Sad

no, none of the "C" series Lats support boot from USB.

i'm wondering tho, since it was the last of the "C" how similar the hardware is to the "D" models. pretty crazy idea to flash it with "D" bios ay?
that would be very very crazy , especially this is a Dell Laptop running a Dell Phoenix Bios!!!!!
