I have a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R-SLI LGA 1366 motherboard that supports some XEON processors out of the box. I would like to add E5620 support to this board, as it is not currently supported.

Here is the original BIOS

Here is the BIOS of the UD7, which is also an AWARD BIOS. This does not officially support the E5620, but many people claim to have them running currently on this board.

Also, this is NOT an ES chip. Plain retail.
Sorry but this board uses an award bios - please can you find us another board which supports these CPU's and has an Award Bios - possibly another Gigabyte board as they always use Award bioses.

I have updated my original post to reflect this. None of there motherboards support this CPU officially, but the EX58A-UD7 should.
Ive looked at the bios for the UD7 and interestingly there is only 1kb of difference between the 2 microcodes.

Try this at your own risk , ive copied the larger microcode and replaced it into your bios (Version F9 , not a good idea to mess around with Beta!)

Thank you! I will attempt this flash later this week.

So? Any results with bios flash?
Would be good if NobleX13 let one know what happened .
fredeb,

Do you have a CPU you can just pop in to test. I have a hard time believing this board supports Xeon and not an E6500.
