I was hoping one of you fine people have worked out how to completely remove the whitelist checking on a Motion Computing LE1700 tablet.

I have tried 2 Sierra wireless cards now and cannot seem to get them to work.

The lastest card is MC8781 has some government regulation error.

I have the 'A' Phoenix bios version.

Rgards,
Stuart
We have stopped trying the removal mod because of a lack of testers - we have gone back to the old method of replacing the ID's

In the meantime,if you want me to help by providing a modified bios then please reply to this post with details of existing wireless card and the new card. The info I'll need is the VEN_ ,DEV_ and SUBSYS_ id's.. Follow the steps below to get this information.

1. Remove existing wireless card from laptop, leave the access cover off.
2. Boot laptop and enter boot selection screen.
3. Install new card (whilst laptop is running), no need connect antenna wires.
4. Boot into windows and new card will appear as unknown device.
5. Now you can obtain exact ven, dev & subsys id's from device properties

We need this information for both your new card and the card that is currently in the machine. Please also post a link so we can download your bios!

i am unable to locate the device instance ID field, I'm using Window 7 if that makes a difference?

the location for bios download is: http://www.motioncomputing.com/drivers/L...8_RN_7.htm

also I'm not sure what you mean about needing the ID of the card that is currently in the machine, it had no card in the WWAN slot and Ihave part one in, I Know the card works because when I installed it while windows was running it worked fine.

thanks, Stuart.
OK lets start again

What wireless card did the machine come with? Whats visible under network adapters in device manager? If there are any wireless devices there which work fine please post a screenshot of the hardware ids

ok,
sorry I'm still getting used to windows7.

I have posted the screen shots of the wifi card which is currently in the computer and working.

and of the WWAN card which I am trying to install.

I hope this is correct?

thanks for your help and patience so far.

Regards, Stuart.
Hi all,
i'll try to hack my bios version (AB18), but i have no VID and PID of the original WWAN card EU870D for which i can search using the HexEditor.
Any idea's ?

I will use an EU870D from toshiba which vendor ID is deifferent from the original card but it's the same hardware and spec.

Otherwise i'll try to install the old BIOS version A10 which doesn't include an auto disable of non authorized cards.

Best

Hi all,

BIOS version A10 for LE1700 doesn't have a whitelist ! ! !
I'll tried a EU870D from toshiba and it works due to an vendor id that is not supportet in BIOS A18.
So all I need to do is install A10 bios?

do you still offer modding for motion le1700's and should i upgrade to a18 bios or stay with a10? i tried installing the card with a10 an got the fcc issue that all others got when installing the intel 5300 wireless n card.

Please provide a link to the BIOS download, you can find this on the manufacturers website. Also tell me the PCI ID of the card that came with the PC.

Thanks.
