Full Version: AMI Aptio flash recovery exists?

Hi all,

I've googled and searched this everywhere but found next to nothing on the issue.

Do AMI Aptio BIOSes offer a standard failed flash recovery routine, such as Insyde's or any other?

I have a Sony Vaio VPCCW21 that froze during a flash update, and now it's bricked -- no power up, no lights, nothing.

I managed to dump the ROM image from a friend's identical machine, but I haven't yet found a way to recover the bricked system's BIOS....

Thanks,

Fowler

Have you tried following the standard AMI recovery procedure ??

Hi, thanks for the reply. The link above results in a 404 not found error, but if you're referring to the AMIBIOS.ROM procedure, it doesn't help atm since the machine doesn't even wake up, no LED's whatsoever apart from the battery charging one; I guess it must be some kind of software-wakeup implemented by this modern UEFI firmware.

I was hoping that a hard power-on and flash routine like the Acer One's existed for this machine since after the failed flash the power button does nothing Confused
