I have an old F9E notebook with 2x1GB DDR2-667 sodimms, asus said that is the limit for this nb.
But i have seen some resellers that sell this (in 2007 of course) with 3GB of RAM, so i suppose that there is a 2GB module support.
some days ago i found 2 modules of 4GB GSkill sodimm DDR-667.
When installed in my pc the nb wont boot up, so i think there is dome bios limit, because either the slot have worked from the first time, and the chipset&cpu (intel 965 with t7100 cpu) support that amount of ram (as written on datasheet).
On my search online i have found that the problem is the bios that doesn't recognize the chip size of 512Mbit, while the 1GB and 2GB dimms are made of 256Mbit chips...
My question is: it's possible to modify the last bios from asus website (ver. 305) to add support of this size of ram?
TIA
This may or may not be possible but i wouldnt know where to start!

Sorry!
