hi all.

I've got an oldish lenovo that I use as a development machine, I've maxed out the the ram to 8gb and have filled the two disk slots with 2TB of disks. It runs win2k8 mainly for the hyper-v functionality.

I'm looking at replacing the processor to get a bit more oomph, but can just whip out the old one and replace it with something which is faster and has more cores?

cpu-z tells me I have an intel core 2 duo E6300 1.86ghz in a Socket 775 LGA. Can I replace with something like this Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66GHz 4Mb LGA775 FSB1333 from dabs :

Or is that too easy?

Many thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forums,

Please post the link to your BIOS for your lenovo so I can check what microcodes are already loaded on the system.

Thanks,
