Hello guys, i would appreciate a lot if anybody could check this old but reopened issue, i would make a donation to the development team if this was solved Smile

Not sure if I'm missing to attach any info, but as i have the same exactly equipment that the advised on first message from Ariel, ... well the CPU is Intel Pentium D 945 3.4 GHz LGA 775 CPU code SL9QQ if that helps.

If any screenshot from CPUz help, please let me know and i'll upload it

Thanks in advance,
Enyel
Hi,
I'm in the same exactly case as Ariel.
I upgraded my CPU from P4 531 to P4 641 and now all I get is "Alert!Incompatible processor detected" during POST, I press F1 to continue, everything is OK, OS can identify P4 641 CPU.

Error Message:"Alert! incompatible processor detected
Strike the F1 to continue,F2 to run the setup utility "

I did the following:
1. Loaded the latest ver A11 BIOS , failed.
2. Put the p4 531 3 G CPU in and got the machine up, no issue.
3. Cleared the CMOS, failed.

I known the chipset of GX520 is intel 945, it can support P4 641. It seems BIOS can not support it.
Would you please help me to add CPU Microcode to support P4 641?
or modify the BIOS to disable the alert during POST

Thanks in advance.
I also would like to get rid of the 'Incompatible Processor' boot error.

I was wondering if the Processor ID's appear in the BIOS somewhere. EX: 2.8GHz/800/1M = 0F41 (No Error) & 3.0Ghz/800/1M = 0F49 (No Error)

Both are Hyper Threaded vs Dual Core.

3.2Ghz/800/4M = 0F62 (Errors - Runs Fine but is a 130 TDP Processor which I can't run in the Media center because of the high end video card and 230 W PS) is Dual Core without Hyper threading. Don't have the 3.4Ghz/800/4M yet. On order incoming/

Questions I have is how hard would it be to add an entry for the processor desired. And, does the position of the entry relate to a jump to a settings table or would it just be a list of supported ID's?

I also need to be able to 'authorize' the GX520 to run memory at 667 which the 945G Express Chipset supports.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. If I can find the actual BIOS image in the file I suppose I could hex edit it? But, would not know if there might be an internal checksum.

Have two boxes now and will probably have third shortly.

I am really skittish about making mods because I do not know how to recover if I trash the BIOS and can't boot to an OS...

Thanks
Hello.
I have 3 Dell GX520 left from a upgrade at office.
The problem is that the one of them came with the D820 and is working properly so i believed that if i order 2 more D820 for the other 2 gx520 i will make them identical.
The problem is that they display a warning message about incompatible processor, i hit the F1 then is working like usual.
So after a little research i found that while the 3 pc are completely identical, the one that came with the D820 has different motherboard name than the other 2, propably a different revision?Perhaps.
So here are the photos this is the processor that i need to be added to bios and this is the motherboard details of the gx520 that came with D820 from Dell.
The bios link is http://downloads.dell.com/bios/A11GX620.EXE
Please if possible someone to help, otherwise the 2 pc are useless since they come with P4.

Please show Service Tag (located on the back of the computer case, but can also be located on the top or side of the system) and screenshots of CPU-Z with all tabs for two different motherboard.
Do you use Pentium D from GX520 or new one? Please tell S-spec for your CPUs. SL88T or SL8CP ?

Hello.
I took reports, through CPU Z, from both GX520, the newest one with the D820 and the old one with the Pentium 4.
The processor is the same since i pull it out from the one (new) and i plug it to the other (old) because i wanted to make sure that the cpu specs, rev etc are completely the same. Although the error remains on the oldest one so processor is not a problem.
Check both reports with completely details of both systems.
Did you try to update BIOS (on oldest systems) from version A06 to A11?
Yes, nothing changed though.
The funny think is that both old and new GX520 have the same bios so probably the microcode is somewhere else than the bios?
Although that sounds very strange.
Can you post another report with updated BIOS on oldest systems?
Of course. I installed the Pentium D processor to make is as much identical i can.I was thinking another solution that will be satisfied as well.
Since after the error message and the F1 action the system is working like usual (no BSOD etc.) perhaps we can just disable this error warning and the system will just boot up like the new one. Is that easier?
