the only reason for the unlock is to get virtulization enabled and yes the chip does support it, but the bios has no setting for it.

Hi Mate

I am unable to extract the bios image from the link you gave me
Please Download Winflash from the link below , start it up , and click save to backup the current bios into a file

http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/747181/Winflash.zip

Then post the link to the backup and i can work on it there

NOTE:If you cant open Winflash or it gives you an error , you do not have an Award bios.

Hope this works

No Problem Mate , Remember that i can only unlock things if they are award or "Phoenix Award". I cant unlock "Phoenix"

Great News

Ive managed to fully unlock your bios!!!

You wouldnt believe how much HP had Hidden!!

You can now access the frequency and voltage options aswell , which will allow you to overclock your system. Before overclocking though , seriously consider upgrading your cooling , especially your CPU cooler , as the stock OEM fans etc are not designed to cope with overclocks.

FLASH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK , I WONT BE HELD RESPOSIBLE FOR ANYTHING THAT GOES WRONG

Enjoy Mate!

Thanks a lot mate.

Yea we knew HP lock the bios right down, but to lock parts of the chip off is just really annoying, Just so they can force you to buy a "server" to run virtulization wa****s. I will give this a go flashing at lunch time.

I recon you could become very busy soon now that virtual xp has been released for windows 7 and people try and enable it in thier bios lol

thanks a lot again , i will let you know how we get on with it Wink

warlord

edit :

i guess i can use winflash, as hp uses a setup file to install it
Using Winflash shouldnt be a problem because , as you say , thats what HP uses to flash anyway

warlord

Hi mate

Ignore the PM Confused i finally it sorted.

Seems HP are using different versions of winflash as well, i have extracted the installer and made a folder that works and installs correctly. They also name thier files .ROM not .bin

Copy the folder (bios tools) to the c: root then run bios tools.exe , it will install YOUR new bios under windows . Big Grin

You are right , there a a [censored] of a lot more options there now, But no virtulization one that i could see Sad will have to see what windows 7 finds on it.

many thanks for all that you done on this

warlord

oppppps almost forgot the file is here . http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=198f7...f6e8ebb871

warlord

Doh

Still no luck with the Virtulization setting.

Got a program from AMD and it says yes the chip is capable but has to be turned on in the bios.

Plenty of other setting to play with though Big Grin
