Hello all
Im trying to unlock some bios options on a lenovo oem foxconn mb
L-IIBXM:V1.0 h57_matx_f_g@-ih57_alc888s_82579dc
have tried to open rom file in dos using amibcp 76 and windows amibcp8
when ever I try to load my bios I get ROM header not found.
lenovo has done a very good job of hiding things such as who made the bios the bios string even locking out seeing to p.o.s.t. with a big lenovo splash screen with no otions to see post in bios.
I know the bios is an ami because lenovos engineers failed to eliminate the ami symbol if I unplug my keyboard error screen. There is another odd thing I have discoverd if i unplug my hdd from the board the pc boots into freedos with an a: prompt and I can access a usb drive here. biosbackup toolkit gives me this .
AMI Bios /ACPI 2.0
Vendor Lenovo
Bios version 5LKT42A
I there a chance that Lenovo has me completly locked out ?
any help would earn great honor as Ive tried for days now to open this bios.
I have a backup of my Bios made with Toolkit 2.0 If it would help. uploaded here
Hi Joe,

Did you try the altest version of AMIBCP we just put up on our downloads page?

Hey Wiz

If you mean amibcp 3.46 says cant load file perhaps there is something I need to rename the file first? Ive got a whole folder full of stuff thats not working both windows and dos and they either say rom header not found or cant open file. Im sure ami has a tool to do it but I cant afford it lol

Does MMTOOL open the BIOS (Also on download page)?
mmtool complains with error loading rom (100003h) also cbrom cant find bios rom header. Im thinkin that I dont have the correct method of saving the .rom Ive tried all the amiflash tools to save and the universal toolkit 2.0 each one of them saves the rom as a different size so there is some kind of software that lenovo uses to decompress the rom in order to do the editing . the ami afuwin and afudos both give me a rom file size of 2,049KB but universal tooldit saves the rom at 4,096KB. Even in a hex editor I can open the bios and view it but any place that there might be an info is blocked out by (to be filled by oem ) witch I know is just mostly hardware. The thing that gets me is they have overwritten the bios id string and when I run amimbid i get this number 63-0100-00001-00101111-092309-chipset.
Im in the same boat as you, any updates on this?

EDIT: Do you know where to get updated bios for it?

AS of yet Ive had no luck with this .
Im sure ami has the new amibcp ans would gladly sell it to me for 1000 gold pcs. lol some ami employee will get canned or screwed over and it will get out like all the other versions.
As of yet lenovo hasnt released a bios update for the k320 and I doubt that if they do it will be any different than what we have now. Im savin up for a new mobo. Im sure the intel core i3 550 is capable of speeds much greater than 3.2 ghz as temps on both cores seldom reach over 33celcius at 100% usage during a burn in test.
Sounds definitely like EFI - you need newer tools to handle this one. I don't have such.
