Hi all, first timer in your forum.
Can anyone point me to where i can find bios update for a Advent 7211. According to the bios screen it's a Phoenix bios, current ver:
dixon spx bios ver D3B11.
Thanks.
This is tough question.

you can try to flash it, but think you need prepare to recover your laptop in worst case, because there isn't official advent or dixon support.

Advent 7211 === PL5C (TechGuys images were Packard Bell Easynote MZ35/36) DSG model numberAL096

packard bell has supplied MZ35/36 with 2axx or 3axx bios.
forget about D initial as yours D3B11, guess D is for Dixon as advent supplier.

ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com/NOTEB...s_3a14.exe

ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com/NOTEB...s_2a11.exe

I think your bios has matched en_mz35_bios_3a14.exe
but it is curious for me that mz35 or mz36 has same drivers, except bios file.

another bios from china has newest bios with Q3C11 from different company.

http://www.datron.com.tr/suruculer/Noteb...5cbios.rar

don't blame to me for the worst case.
it is up to you, try or not.

Thanks Cyberpark for your excellent research.
I successfully flashed the bios using en_mz36_bios_3a14.exe link,
hoping it would solve a hard drive controller problem.
It would be useful to know where to find bios updates. Thanks again Shy
I have looked at the en_mz35_bios_3a14.exe link and managed to unlock quite a few options if your willing to give it a try! (At your own risk!)

Amazing! How would you do that ? Capturing VGA... ? or real emulation?
If so, where to find that program to emulate BIOS?
That program is Phoenix Bios Editor. Its around on the net.

Its not real emulation though , it loads the bios ROM and emulates the menus using the strings and template found in the bios image

Hello, could you unlock available options of PL5C bios? (There are two folders, mod both BIOS files please. I think pl5c BIOS has a "Datron" splash screen in it. The other one is original.) Also I need VGA memory size option if it is available.
