Hello,

I have an HP desktop with IPIBL-LB motherboard. The chipset Intel G33 supports RAID 0, 1, 5 & 10. However the available options are RAID 0 & 1 only. Looks like HP guys disabled other options for some reason. Is it possible to modify the BIOS in order to enable RAID5?
My current BIOS is AMI v.5.43. It is the latest one as far as I know.

Thank you.
Can anyone point me to the right direction?
Hi vii,

Please run the BIOS backup image here for us so we can take a look.

So you have three BIOS options -
SATA1 controller
SATA1 mode
SATA2 controller

What options does each one have? You select RAID in SATA1 mode, don't you?

I don't see options like those.

In Advanced I have SATA Controller Mode where I can choose between IDE, RAID & AHCI (current option is RAID)

If pressed Ctrl-I during boot it goes into Intel Matrix Storage Manager. There are 3 unused drives at the moment (ports 1, 3 & 5).

I can create a new volume but only can choose between RAID 0 & RAID 1.

O.K. I've got it. Try this BIOS:

The RAID manager is an additional program integrated in BIOS, and it really has RAID5 cut out. I've replaced it with a version from another ICH9R board.

Thank you. I will try it later this week.
