Upon examination of the board, the only chip I could find that didn't have a heat sink on it, had a sticker on it that said AMIBIOS (So I assume this is the chip in question) and it was not socketed.
That was an informative read. What are the chances something could go wrong and if something does go wrong is there anyway to fix it?

Yes then indeed your chances of recovery are dependent on the AMI Bootblock recovery method, so it is a considerable risk trying the above. I will try to see what other less dangerous solutions I can offer.
