Hi, im new here so ive probably posted this in the wrong section!

I have a friends laptop here , a sony vaio VGN-FW48E he was updating his bios via the sony support site via an exe file and the machine turned off in the middle of it. now it wont boot atall, lights fans all on but no screen. i have removed the cmos battery but still have no post. I s it possible to obtain the correct bios and flash it via a usb stick? if so where can i get the file and how do i go about doing it.

Kind regards

leeroy
Assuming the bootblock is still intack and you can post the BIOS you were initially trying to flash, then you can follow the recovery procedures on our homepage depending on teh BIOS type. Please post the BIOS you wish to recover to.

I checked the sony vaio support site and the only bios update thats there is BIOS R3110Y0
i can only assume that that was the bios he was updating too?
That is probably a correct assumption. If you can download the BIOS file (not exe's or the installer), and put it to a USB stick, you may have success with this recovery procedure. If you have a BIOS Download link I can help point you to the right recovery procedure to follow.

Thanks,
