This new schema is for sure the hardest i have seen. Don't want to pach and bypass too much code because that can make the notebook very very unstable, avoiding perhaps some PCI device initialisation process. I hope TTAV134 was here and had a look at the new whitelist checks.

is that just in the newer F23 bios version or also on the previous F13A version?

as my lappy shipped with F13A and the newer version only really gives support for the newer cpu's.. which im not exactly in need of... Big Grin
both Sad

i think this time is not just a simple check if device id is in the white list and take a path of YES or NO, seems it uses whitelist to make another list in memory, and all jumps between check subroutines are "obfuscated" by using "indexed" calls based on a register RAX+value, and RAX is varying during execution. It's quite complicated to follow for me Smile That's why we would need another expert hand here. Maybe his eyes is better trained than mine and he doesn't get confused by the code.

TTAV134 where are you? we miss you Smile Come back, those bios are not more unhackable Smile
so i suppose the other possible option is to replace all instances of the current card with the new one? as it shouldn't really break anything that way...

as it is i dont plan to use any other card in the machine once this one works, and if i need to use the original again i can always flash a stock bios back over...

edit: just put er to sleep and changed the card over, new one is:

PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0030&SUBSYS_20001A56&REV_01

Test this one, F13A based Wink

no go, exact same issue.. works fine for multiple reboots / shutdowns. As soon as new card is placed in, it doesnt post, and bricks it, had to use my usb stick again Smile

so far using a stock bios, i can reboot as many times as i want with the new card in, and it posts each time but then gives the wireless error. card also works fine in windows if i put it in whilst the lappy is in sleep mode.

there must be something else new to the whitelist... assuming thats what u had a crack at on the f13?

This is just the bin file, with PCI values exchanged from unused card to the one you wish, result is your two cards should be working in your laptop.

Just overwrite the previous bin with this and flash it. Wink

We have lift off!
Havn't put the original card back in to test it, but the new card is in and all good.
So far outcome is whitelist is a pain in the [censored], but the original method of exchanging new card for an unused is still a goer for this range of laptops...

Still open to some testing if required later Smile since i have the working recovery.
My way of giving back something Cool
hmm ok, seems to still be a few bugs, works ok, however the laptop will randomly crash eventually ( could be just an hour, or a few hours) and when it does, it bricks the bios, have to use my usb stick to recover to F23 again, remove the wireless card, then flash the modified f13 back in and re insert the new wireless card.

Has happened twice today, once when i inserted my usb 3g modem (i seem to get a BSOD when i plug it in no matter what bios i use), once while minecraft was paused (and the laptop was running a little hot).

Survives fine through as many reboots as i like, its only when it crashes that it goes down.

F23 with your ID inserted

First go didnt work, windows part of the program is fine, but when the laptop reboots into the Bios Updater, it starts to flash and says Failed, reboot and shes a brick :/ recovered to stock bios again Tongue

Edit: Second go, successful, now to replace the wireless card n report on how that goes.

Edit2: Unfortunately results the same as the first F23 mod we did, still gives the Unsupported wireless device error, then a reboot results in a brick Sad
