I have a gateway gt5628 with a problem.... has most current bios, but....
the onboard audio chip is/may have failed. Not sure. Hardware Monitor in bios displays 2 red "!" when I click on it.... Intel Management Engine Interface fails to start on win7 x32.... After a cmos reset onboard fans started running at max speed.
when trying to add any pci sound card the drivers fail to load. (tested card on another machine to verify that is works....
My question is this, Would a bios recovery work to try and solve these problems?
If it is possible, would I then have to load a gateway specific bios... Or, is there the possibility of a modded bios for this board?
The board is an Intel g33 schroedertown with an ihc9 sb chipset.
