Hi,
after some further investigation on the web and messing around with different flashtools I finally managed to flash the BIOS!

The FE31M Bios works fine with the FE41M Hardware Smile

Unfortunally now I'm stuck again with that d*** BIOS Password....

Any suggestions?

Greetings
Nviduum

would like to add, That this bios file worked on my Vaio VGN-FE31M model.

I spent over 6 hours trying to flash this bios onto my lapdancer from DOS with no joy, Only then did i think ahhh hang on a minute used my common sense and voila, within 2 minutes it was flashed.

The flash that BM link to doesnt work on the fe31m series !! and yes its a phoniex bios.

oh btw... i flashed from windows xp Wink not a single problem. i think this is a part of getting around the restrictive bios. Thanks sony.

original specs:
cpu - c2dm t5600 = 1.8ghz - 667 fsb
ram - 1gb ddr2 533 mhz
Hdd - 160gb 5400 rpm Sloooooooooow
win 7 pro 64x

New specs:
Cpu - c2dm T5800 = 2 Ghz - 800 fsb
Ram - 4Gb ddr2 667mhz
hdd - 120gb SSD fasssst
win 7 pro 64x

Feels like new again.

Faster than most laptops being sold today.

Can you tell me what is the brand of your new kit of ram(name, model, ecc...)? I've try to do the upgrade with a kingston kit (2 + 2 Gb) but the computer crashes after boot. What kind of gpu do you have on board? geforce go 7600 (128 mb) or geforce go 7400?
Thank you
can i use this for fz21m model ?
Anyone having some weird pitched noise after flashing the VGN-FE41M with the R0170J3?
Tried to going back to the original R0200J3 bios and the sound is gone.
Can't find what causes this in bios options.
Hi, is there a way to have a modding version of R0200J3 bios for my VGN-FE? I need to install 4GB of ram and set other hiding features.

No one can do it?
Uppp!

Hello friends!

Can anybody help me, please?
I have a problem with my Sony VAIO VGN-41M.
I have installed Win 7 on this laptop but laptop doesn't work good anymore. Every time I try to start Windows, I must to insert Windows 7 instalation disc and to choose option to repair OS. After that, Windows starts but the problem comes back after next time I shoot down the Windows.
What should I do to fix that? Obviously, there is a problem with starting Win 7 on this VAIO!? Do you think that flashing BIOS can help?

Thank you all very much for answering!
