And will you be able to flash back the modded bios to your PC using phoenixtool???
Hi,

Sorry for delayed reply. I think I could flash the modded bios with InsydeFlash. Done it before, after modding the SLIC information and it works fine by now. My main concern is the advanced menu unlock, since I am planning to use an SSD drive which will need some fine tunning in bios to work flawlessly. But whitelist removal is also important - will try to upgrade the wifi radio with 5ghz intel 6250 minipci-x card.
Hi,

Thank you for your efforts and time. Will try to flash the new bios later this week and will provide feeback.

After a few beers I found the courage to flash the new bios on my Z565 and guess what: ITS WORKING ! Smile)
Great work, man ! Apreciate it !
The advanced menu is now unlocked.
Still have to test it with the new Wifi, when it arrives but I am pretty sure it will work.
Will continute to experiment with the new bios settings in the weekend. For now there are at least 1000 things I would like to try to fine tune this laptop.

10x again, camiloml !
lol, glad to know it haven't bricked your lappy Smile Enjoy it Wink
Thanks for confirming,

Hello Camilo

I have a question for you.

When you mode the bios for "advanced menu". is there a way to find out when you analyzing it, what combination of key strokes the bios is expecting in order to open the advanced menu ? My assumption is that if the menu is there the programmer put some kind of a way to access it using combination of keys. you think there is a way to find out what are those by looking at it with the hex editor ? especially those insdy bios? Most companies admits for the existence of that but will not divulge the info.

Think a bout it

Thank you

Hmmm maybe such a backdoor exists, i really haven't seen that code in any of the bios i modded, but true is also i haven't searched for it, it's normally easier for me just unhide the menus or items, but for sure would be a good solution if it were possible for hp's rsa signed bioses that semibricks laptops once modded.
I'm also interested in removing the whitelist from my Z565 laptop. I'm not as concerned with the advanced menu feature. Camiloml, can you re-mod the original BIOS to include JUST the whitelist removal?

Also, what tool should I be using to apply this modded BIOS. I tried using InsydeFlash on the existing modded BIOS and got the "This BIOS is not for your Notebook PC" error message. Any help is thoroughly appreciated.
