Here's the current link for the modified bios for the Iris 8 mobo. It needs support added for an AMD Athlon 6000+. I think the best shot is to use the nettle3 AGESA.ROM found in the award unlocked section.

Thanks,

Athlon 64 6000+?

Or

Athlon X2 64 6000+?

It is the X2 because the hp boards of that series have been shipping in the X2 series 4800-5600.
Ok , well the original bios held support for the following:-

Thanks, but the HP winflash didn't like the image file (I followed the tutorial).

The original BIOS supported the AMD Athlon 64 X2, but only up to 4800. I am hoping to use a AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ chip in this machine.

I was able to load the modded BIOS from TheWiz, but that rebooted to a black screen. I'll try and recover and see what we can do.
I Downloaded the Iris8Mod2.bin file to try and allow my X2 chip to work again on my MCP61PM-HM (Iris8) Motherboard. It no longer works since i updated the bios with HP 5.27 bios. When trying to flash IRIS8MOD2 I get the error "BIOS Image File Check sum Error" "Check to see if FDD&HDD error occured. Please Download Again Your Source File". I Tried clearing BIOS and unplugging PC for 30 mins and still getting error. I am using AWDFLASH in DOS Mode. I was able to get "IRIS8MOD" to Flash and i get all the overclocking options but I cannot get the "Unsupported CPU message" to stop. I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz 89W. Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Man,

The mod above you is an obsolete mod that was proven not to work (I dont know why it wasnt taken down) If you are still able to enter DOS, we can try and fix that for you with a newer mod.

I can still boot into DOS have a old CPU chip i am using temporarily. That would be great if i could get my X2 chip fixed. Let me know what u need from me. I have a MCP61PM-HM (Iris8) Motherboard and a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz 89W CPU I am trying to get working for it.
If you view this thread, you will see a user who has successfully got it working with the oc mod of this bios:

I am the *proud*? owner of a Compaq SR5110NX with the ECS MCP61PM-HM Motherboard in the standard Iris configuration. I also have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 ADA5600IAA6CZ processor that I purchased by mistake recently and was wondering if the motherboard BIOS could be modified to:
A) Accept this processor or
B) Should I just go out and buy a Nettle3 motherboard?

I understand that the motherboard is supposedly maxxed out at 65 watt and the processor is an 89 watt but the motherboard is pretty much the same in the Iris, Iris8, Nettle, Nettle2 and Nettle3 configurations and I see that you have enabled the Iris8 to accept up to a 6000. Am I just wasting my (and your) time or is this possible to do? Just for the heck of it I plugged the CPU into the motherboard and when I booted it up I got the Unrecognized CPU message.

Thank you,
Jim
