Hi all,
I've searched everywhere for a SLIC 2.1 version of the BIOS for a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ18GP laptop but cannot find one.

Could one of the mod gurus please help me with this?

I uploaded the self-extracting version to:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/ebaypix/P...231-UN.exe

and expanded the folder to:
http://members.optusnet.com.au/ebaypix/P...041231-UN/

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jowey

Hi there,

Thanks for the file.

I tried to flash the BIOS in windows but it said that it could not verify the bios file Sad

I told it to proceed anyway and it didn't allow the flash.

Do you guys know of any way to make it flash the BIOS?

Thanks,

Jowey

With a Sony Bios, there are hidden markers and tables which need to be dealt with.

I won't touch a SONY Bios without an RW Everything Report.

Another thing in which you should have done when it comes to SONY bios - ALWAYS AND WITHOUT EXCEPTION provide the direct download link to the bios for it contains files by which I need to mod the bios. Luckily, I found the direct download link for you.

-Manufacturer: SONY
-Motherboard Model: VGN-SZ18GP
-Bios revision: R0096N0
-Bios Type: Phoenix BIOS
-Bios Download Link: http://download.sony-asia.com/vaio/downl...231-UN.exe
-Source of Bios Download Link: http://www.sony.com.au/support/download/...=agreement

How to Create an RW Everything Report

Please provide below so that it can help me in finding those hidden tables.

Download and Install RWEverything from one of the following links:
http://jacky5488.myweb.hinet.net/
http://jacky5488.myweb.hinet.net/bin/RwV1.4.zip
http://slics.myftp.org/Tools/RwV1.4.rar

Open RWEverything.

After RWEverything Opens, click ACCESS - ACPI Tables.

When ACPI Tables opens, click anywhere within the ACPI Window.

Now click CONTROL + F2 to save the entire table.

Save this Report to the desktop WITHOUT CHANGING THE NAME and either attach this file to your post or upload it to one of the following:
www.box.net or www.mediafire.com or www.sendspace.com

If you upload your RWEverything Report to one of the 3 host servers above, post the download link of your RWEverthing Report in the Post of your Mod Request.

Below is the preferred method in which to post your mod requests:

-Motherboard Model:

Hi,

Thanks for looking in to it. I figured Sony was doing some sort of signing or checksum to make sure their BIOS wasn't modified.

I did the RWEverything report like you instructed, and uploaded it to:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/bjklzi

It took me a long time to find that BIOS link, I'm in Australia and the Sony Australia site doesn't mention the laptop even in the archived section of their support pages!

Thanks!
