Ok I have a problem installing a Broadcom Crystal HD card where the atheros wireless card was in my system which is an insyde H20 bios.
The machine wont even output a display when i have the card in, have to remove to boot.
I read here:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.p...pic=227226
that it has something to do with a card whitelist, i have tried to follow the instructions on the site and cannot even find the Hex entry.
If anyone has any experience with this and can offer some help or would be willing to modify my bios for me that would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Danny
Please provide a link to the BIOS download, you can find this on the manufacturers website.
Thanks.
And if i use my time to mod your bios.... How are you going to flash it?

Dont like windows flash programs so been reading I can use FLASHIT in DOS for an insyde bios or if I have to resort to windows perhaps insydeflash.
And have you that working (for your system) flashing utility?
Did you take the bios backup using one of them (flashit or insydeflash)?
What i mean with this is, taking the bios backup and modding it is useless if stock flasher from manufacturer is not available and you don't have working tools to flash the mod. So i will not waste my time modding a bios unless you have the needed tools working and tested to flash the mod.
When you have a working flashit that can take a bios backup and flash it back to the mother board i will try mod your bios, not before, sorry.

Understandable. I will try re-flashing the bios using the bios i have and if it works I will let you know and we can take it from there.
Thanks.
hmmm, i think i have a solution, but i need to know the PCI ID of the wifi card that was on the slot.

vendor is 168c and pci device is 001c (have pasted full details below)
Ok here is the info I have got about the wifi card:
FROM WINDOWS DEVICE MANAGER:
Atheros AR5006X WirelessNetworkAdapter
AW-GE780
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_10261A3B&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_10261A3B
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_ 001C&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&CC_0200
FROM PCID WEBSITE: (may not be relevant)
ff19 AR5006X Wireless Network Adapter
Thanks again for your time.
P.S.Also tonight I tried flashing the bios using a bootable USB, flashit.exe, and the old BIOS and it flashed no problems, so i should be able to flash with a modded bios.
Hi.
I'm sorry to say that i cannot see traces of whitelisting code in your bios. There's no occurences of the PCI ID, so there's no check against it.
Try booting the machine with the wifi card, make it sleep and swap the card with yours to see if it works upon returning from sleep.
