Hi, Apologies in advance since I couldn't find any reset forums

I created a similar thread on the Lenovo Forums but hoping I get a faster response here.. Based on some threads here I was able to unloc the Bios menu for my Ideapad Y570. Unfortunately I set some display options to disabled and now as a result the computer boots up but I can't see anything Sad Connecting to an external monitor doesn't help also. The Optimus switch is also not lighting up.

I searched and found a post on how to reset the BIOS using a flash drive. I followed its instructions lie copying the bin into the drive and holding the keys while powering up but its not working. The laptop continues to boot normally as I can hear the logon screen welcome sound.

Can someone please help me out to reset the BIOS or on how to reset to Factory default settings? This is my work laptop and hence its really urgent to get it working
Remove cmos battery for a couple of minutes.
It's not so easy to do it in laptops some times. Some laptops have cmos battery soldered to motherboard.

Try this:

1. Get 2GB usb flash memory, and format it to fat (not fat32, must be fat)
2. Download bios file from link below and put it in to root directory on pendrive (don't change name - must be exactly this one).
3. Plug usb memory into laptop (must be switched off).
4. Hold down Fn+R, FN+ESC, FN+B or FN+Win key (try all combinations, i'm not sure wich one working in lenovo. In mine laptop FN + ESC working) keys and while holding press the power button. Light on pendrive should start blink (if any). Wait about 10min. If computer don't shutdown itself do it after this 10min. Should working now Smile

Use this unmodified bios, after you can flash back modified one.
@camiloml: Tried that but didnt work Sad

@Pichu: Thanks for the steps. Trying ti now. WIll update post if this works. Fingers crossed! Angel

-----------------------------
Update: the method by Pichu is not working. I followed the steps but nothing happens. Does the USB drive need to be bootable or something? Fn + R seems to be the combination for Y570 based on some other forum threads

-------------------------------
Update2: I am able to boot the laptop and log into it and can access it on the network just cant enable its display or external display .. Its like the commands sent to the display adapter are being ignored Sad

Try removing the CMOS battery again, but leave it out for 30 mins. Remove the regular battery and detach the power cord as well. If the problem still persists, it's probably not a BIOS problem, but a hardware failure in the display adapter or the screen.

try to blind flash the bios, when you flash it will be resetted to default settings. Put the orginal bios exe on pendrive and create file autorun.inf inside the file paste this:

Code:
[autorun]
open=IQY0206AX32.exe
and save file, after that when you reinsert usb drive the default action will be open the flasher. Just press enter after couple of seconds. You should hear exclamation sound for administrator rights. default action when question about administrator rights appear is no, you need to push left key to change it to yes and press enter again. After that is one more question from flasher, i'm not sure wich one is selected by default, you need to try. You will hear when the laptop start flashing because fan will go on 100% i think. Thats the only thing you can do, removing cmos battery may not help.

Thanks for this. Will try it now. Just to be sure; I delete the earlier .bin file and replace it with this INF and exe correct? I will still have to Fn + R during power-on.
No, you dont have to delete. You need to do it on windows. And autorun i give you wasn't complete. This is complete one. And one more thing, autoplay for usb devices in win 7 is disabled, you have to burn cd with this 2 files to make this steps i've written.

Code:
[autorun]
open=IQY0206AX32.exe
icon=IQY0206AX32.exe
shellexecute=IQY0206AX32.exe
And pray for the platform.ini to have ClearCMOS=1 Smile That normally is set to 0.

He don't have to pray. Only thing what he must do in that case is extract bios by 7zip and make one simple change in platform.ini Tongue
