Sorry, I can't find the file in the whitelist section of the repository. Can you double check or tell me the exact filename? Also, this is your second attempt at this bios correct? (I've been following this for a couple weeks now.)
Also, for bios recovery, the structure should be "Hp Tools":Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\ and Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Previous\ and is there a post that says the step by step of how to recover?
Edit: Ok. Found the right file, download and try to flash. It says the version of ROM file isn't newer than that of BIOS. Under current bios it shows and ID of 17FC and version of F.99T99 (which is not the current bios XD)

I reset the value in the file and flashed. The computer rebooted and all that happened was the caps lock was blinking. I turned off, removed battery for 60 seconds, replaced battery, and tried to turn on again: same problem. I then preformed bios recovery usb. (USB stick wasn't inserted while flashing and I have no partition named hp_tools). Did I do anything wrong?

No, maybe that bios is a PITA and really can't be modded. Try the sp54846 using the platform.ini trick to avoid version check.

Yeah, I think I'm just going to return the laptop instead. This isn't worth it.

I'll try sp54846 v2 with platform.ini trick tonight and report back.
Thanks again Camilo

First let me say I am sorry it took so long to report back. Family and work obligations, you all know how that is.
Good news and bad news. Good news is the sp54846v2 flashed after I changed the platform.ini [BIOS_Version_Check] to Flag=0
Notebook booted up in a low res screen but installed a few files and ask me to reboot. After I rebooted the screen res came back up as normal (1920X1080) and a quick check of the BIOS version showed it had successfully installed F.02 (sp54846). Everything seemed to be working fine so I decided to shut down and try to install my new Intel Centrino Advanced-N Dual Band 6230 (802.11 a/b/g/n) WiFi card.
Now for the bad news, when I turned the computer back on it locked up tight. Nothing I could do to get it to boot with the new WiFi card. I then had to do a "BIOS Recovery" from my USB stick because I renamed HP_TOOLS partition. BIOS recovered successfully back to F.12 (sp55375) and everything is back to the way it was before the BIOS flash.
Oh well, back to square one...
Thanks Camilo for trying to help.
