Hi,
I have a Optiplex 745 with an already mod bios (version 2.6.4) for SLIC 2.1 and it works great, This bios is capable of AHCI support for SATA (chipset is ICH8):
00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) 4 port SATA IDE Controller (rev 02)
but dell did not include this option in the bios settings, is it possible to unlock this option?
It would be great if it can be done. Thanks!!!

Forgive me for replying to an old post.

I have an Optiplex 745 and would also love to see AHCI enabled natively through the BIOS.

Ive applied [this] bios mod adding SLIC 2.1 support and Xeon Microcodes [found here]. That mod gave this PC a new life.

I am attempting to add the AHCI support myself but not having much luck. When I extract the BIOS.exe file above it produces a HDR file (no ROM) and unable to proceed.

I am also trying to start back from stock 2.6.6 Dell BIOS in order to add all three SLIC 2.1, Xeon Microcodes, and AHCI support -- I am able to extract the ROM and HDR files but AMIBCP says it cannot locate the header file on the ROM.

I feel stuck but will keep trying and report back here with any success.  If anyone can help or advise I'd be happy for it.
What do you think about that :
