Okay, it seems that the part regarding 00 00 AF was unnecessary. Updated the instructions.

I flashed BIOS with DSDT you provided, and it did break Fn+F2 in Legacy Boot Smile When I press Fn+F2, nothing happens now.
Ok, reverted everything back .. Fn+F2 should work.
Added a check to Accelerometer, if Windows is either 7 or 8 it will be disabled (lol, this is ridiculous .. but anyway I don't need it for an SSD).
Changed touchad identifier to a group2 05 model, according to wmi code it expects to obtain .. not sure if this leads to something. I'm looking at config from Touchpad_Synaptics_W84_X10_A02_Setup-NVCD2_ZPE.exe

%PS2.DellDeviceDesc% = DELL_GROUP2_InterTouch_INST,*DLL058F
%PS2.DellDeviceDesc% = DELL_GROUP2_InterTouch_INST,*DLL0593
Both support action Disable_Enable_TP_By_HotKey

[Disable_Enable_TP_By_HotKey]
HKR,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SynTP\Parameters,KBCNotifyConfig,0x00010001,0x31
HKR,System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SynTP\Parameters,DisableKey,0x00010001,0xE01E

I've been monitoring our TP and Fn+F3 emits 0xE01E when pressed.

Flashed your file. ST Micro Accelerometer is no longer in Device Manager, and Fn+F3 works in Windows 8! I had to reinstall the Synaptics driver though.

Thanks a lot Smile
Good to know!
Synaptics touchpad should also support a few advanced features (four finger and 3 finger actions) that were restricted to higher models previously, even though V7.5 hardware supports it perfectly. Would you mind sharing the final wph? I've yet to recover all my files from HDD I swapped out, the only files I have right now are tools ..
Sure, here you go: http://rghost.net/43720380
It's based on your A13 mod from the first post of this thread. All menus unlocked etc.
Cool, thank you!
Updated the VBIOS info to match proper V2158 and SNB, if you are interested I can upload... then flashed it right away.
The toucphad hack turned out really well, it even picks up when I connect my BT mouse and turns off the touchpad and enables LED as soon as the mouse gets connected. Also, I was wrong about 4 finger gestures, v7.5 can support only 3 fingers.. but still swiping up and down wasn't possible until the hack was implemented.

The only issue is that it acts sort of weird. When you first try to disable the touchpad the led blinks quickly, touchpad gets disabled but LED doesn't stay on. When you enable the touchpad the cursor moves, but LED comes on.. so it acts the opposite to what it should be doing, is this the case for you, @HairyCube ? Afteral we get different fake models of the toucphad due to the fact your machine has SG and mine doesn't...

So it means everything got updated and working - with also DSDT for OsX ??

Would you mind to check and patch the WLAN / WWAN restriction. I´ve got a Atheros Card to try at OSX to me more userfriendly. Also new SLIC would be awsome.

Huuum, post more details about osx install - build and step-by-step instructions. i wish to start it using soon. But i will exchange the hardisk first ... too bad 3450 its [censored] hard to do it, why DELL why you put the hardisk at that place, i have to open everything ... lol
I haven't done anything to DSDT except disable ST A_CC for Windows 7/8 and set fake series5 IDs for touchpad to allow it to work properly with newer Dell-Synaptics drivers (by the way 16.3.1.1 was release recently).
There's not restriction to WWAN.. there's no WL on Dell.. I've been sticking Series 5 Intel cards, AR9285 cards, a Broadcom card and all of them worked fine .. except the one that came stock with this machine, utter crap.

Why do you want new SLIC if Windows 8 still uses 2.1 ? Mine is activated perfectly fine.

I'm not building any step-by-step instructions because there are plenty of instructions on installing OSX on any modern laptop. The only exception with this piece of crap though is that it won't boot from GPT partitioned HDD in Legacy mode (using Chumera/Chameleon installed on HDD) - you have to use UEFI Clover for your bootloader with a specific driver called EmuVariable (comes bundled with the package file). I've attempted doing a guide once - http://applelife.ru/threads/dell-vostro-3450.36874 just look at this mess lol

I replaced HDD with a 128Gb M4 and put the HDD in an optibay .. but quickly changed my mind as it was causing even more heat and vibrations. Now I'm looking at http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Produc...hp?Idx=671 for an external enclosure, or a higher model which has DVD emulation capability http://www.zalman.com/eng/product/Produc...hp?Idx=674
Hmm... I read in the L511z thread that it is technically possible to undervolt the CPU. That would be very nice and I'd like to try it out.
Although I read on NBR that undervolting mobile Sandy Bridge is impossible at the moment...

TW: Yeah, my touchpad behavior is a bit messed up as well. I just tried to disable and enable it and a couple of times it didn't disable properly. The LED behavior is weird too, like you described. I don't care much anyway because I set it to turn off automatically when a USB mouse is present (which worked with the original DSDT by the way).

Another question: Is anyone interested in AMD 6630M VBIOS mods? I've been using a modded VBIOS with overclock for quite a while now, and I think I just managed to undervolt it too.
Ironically enough Dell has screwed up original CST implementation, thus original ssdt tables do not work with osx. The only way to make them work is to drop every table from the firmware, edit couple of bytes in CST as per acpi and sideload edited tables... I will look to see what I had changed back then... Also will check how voltage or should I say wattage was defined as per acpi spec.
