Hi everyone, I'm new here and new to bios moding
It could take me ages to get up to speed with all of this and I was wondering if someone could help me out.
My gaming rig is getting a little old, and I also use it for work (video editing and the like) I cant afford a brand new system just yet (and apart from the problem below is still a [censored] fine gaming machine!) and thus looking to upgrade the ram but having a slight issue.
After researching the mobo (nForce 790i ultra) there was some reports that they was able to get 16GB of ram working on it.
I have gone out and got some compatible ram, it all works fine apart from the ASUS bios seems to have a soft limit of 8GB of ram.
the new 4GB sticks (2 sets of 2x4) all work fine up to the 8 GB limit
the reports are coming from the evga bios for this board saying V09 allowed them to run 16GB ram - all leading me to the conclusion that it is software limited. (4GB sticks were not around when the mobo came out, to that point it uses the older 1.8-2V DDR3 not the newer 1.5V stuff)
I am in the process of making a boot-able dos environment and will be looking to force flash the evga bios but would prefer to stick with the bios I know, thus the striker II extreme bios.
So if anyone could be willing to modify the current bios I would be most grateful (chances are if the force flash to the evga bios doesn't work I would have to spend weeks learning exactly how to edit bios's properly to change it and never need to look at it again, not that I am not willing but it may be a simple fix for someone here)
Here is the link to the asus striker II extreme 1402 bios http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock...e/1402.zip
if it helps here is the supposed evga bios that supports 16GB of ram, I say supposed as at this point I can not confirm or deny it works - further more it may not be of any use

Thanks for any assistance you can provide!
