[REQUEST] Acer Switch 10 SW5-012 BIOS Unlock
#1
Thanks in advance for reading this,

I have exhausted all of my knowledge and resources regarding the BIOS features for the Acer Aspire Switch 10 SW5-012 (which are the single most minimal UEFI Firmware Bios that I have ever come across).

I Was able to unlock SPI (Eeprom Write Error 280 / 28) using Falseclock Method :

setup_var 0x163 0x1, 0x1FE 0x0, 0x170 0x1

I got modified "Bios Lock", "SPI Support", "MEI/ME Override".

Unlock SPI into EFI IFR Setuputility Module VarStore Variables

My question here is a request to provide any help, any unlocks, any additional features through the modification of the bios listed on the Acer Support Website (Which ever one is easier to mod, the newest one being InsydeH20 V1.13 found at the following link Acer Direct Download Bios v1.13, 3.9 MB, 2015/01/30

These specific bios have been extremely difficult to use, and if there is one single feature that I'm requesting to be unlocked it would be something like CSM or Legacy Support.

My overarching goal here is to be able to install a windows 8.1 x64 operating system, on the Acer Switch 10 which does include a compatible x64 cpu, however it unable to boot any x64 efis from any operating system only 32 bit efi files. Currently I was able to upgrade Windows 8.1 with Bing x86 to Windows 8.1 Pro x86, however have yet to even be able to boot windows 8.1 x64 installation media.

If there is anyway to disable this security function through bios modification, or any other features, I would be eternally grateful, and I would provide a donation to the individual who can provide any bios modifications.

These Uefi Bios have maybe only 4 or 5 changeable features, it is ridiculous!

In any case thank you so very much in advance, I'm hopeful that someone may be able to provide some help here.

Wow thank you, this is very interesting, I'm definitely a noob at all this stuff, but I think I have a grasp on how to change the hex offset to enable options for legacy boot in order to boot an X64 OS. I've been playing around with the UEFI Tool, howevver I'm not very confident in making changes when I could potentially corrupt the bios. If there is anyone out there willing to help would you please potentially help me walk through some of the steps to change the offsets within the bios so I don't fry my new computer Tongue. I think I know which offset I need to change, but I'm scared I'm going to corrupt the bios some how.

If anyone is able to unlock these features for me, just the Legacy Boot, disable secure boot, or any other relevant advanced menu features it would be immensely appreciated! And I would be willing to donate for your efforts.

Thank You,

So I have tryed to compile Grub2 with the setup_var patch I could only get one patch version so I tryed that and this may be a no go just because of the IA32/x86 efi Limitation I was able to compile but ended up with an error appon boot so we may need to get someone who know's what they are doing to embed the setup_var command in a bootia32.efi version of grub 2! so far not much progress but have exausted all the thing's that do not work!
