Hi,
Please can someone tell me what files I am supposed to be able to view on the flash drive just before modding the bios ? I have attempted this and I am experiencing problems. I will be the first to admit that I am a noob and I haven't just thown up a post to this thread before spending a few hours messing around trying to get this to work.
I have got to to a stage whereby when the Server is powered on, its recognising the drive, its going through the flashing procedure (at a rapid rate). I see an part in the loading where it looks at command.com and autoexec.bat and then it throws up the error with program something that then leaves me at a c: prompt.
If you require more information, please do ask and I will do my best to answer them and get this working. BTW, its a n40l that I am working with.
Thanks....Dub

Hey guys,

So by all accounts I can verify, the flash has been successfully pushed to my N40L, however upon reboot (tried both soft and hard reboots) my bios is unchanged. It's still ID: 041 and Version: 07/29/2011. I downloaded the flash.zip and extracted it over the usb drive that was configured via the HPQUSB application. When booted from the pre-configured and overwrote usb drive, it loads the FreeDOS and a number of things fly by the screen resulting in several "-------" lines, "Programming blocks:" and then several more lines of "-------". I'm then dumped to a c prompt where I try and execute flash.bat. Several things are printed to the screen and I'm back to the many lines of "-----". After a reboot, still same BIOS:/ Any advice/direction? Is it failing the flash because I already have version 41?

Thanks in advance all!

Hi I have the same problem as others. Downloaded a bios update from HP, created USB disk, restarted, it seemed to work and landed me at C:> prompt. Wasnt sure it worked so ran the flash.bat program again manually.

the content reads kbd /"flash O41072~1.rom -r 100000,10000 -r 1e0000,10000;q"

Again it seemed to do something and land me back at the c:> at ehich point I removed the USB and restarted the machine.

Since then the machine comes on, no video and red HP logo.
I tried HPs suggestions by leaving the USB in and restarting machine and leaving for 5mins, I tried an earlier ROM, I tried renaming the ROM to AMIBIOS.ROM and tried removing all files apart from the ROM file but nothing. THe USB does not seem to be loading anything (the usb keyboard capsolock lights etc dont come on when I press them). ANy help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I have a n40l with xenserver 6.02 and some vm's installed for testing and I am very satisfied. In this week after installing a new vm with the AsteriskNOW distribution / centos 6.3 vm not reboot and stop with error: firmware bug . after a google search it can resolved with disable of "Processor Power and Utilization Monitoring".
n40l hp bios not have this option, did you know if your mod unhide this option?

described error: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...peId=15351

Thanks

Hi Camiloml,
I trust you are well.

Thank you for this, I tried it and it works.

I was hoping you might be able to help me with a question.
I installed 2 x 8GB memory modules and within the new BIOS menu you can see they are registered (one in each DIMM bank) but POST screen & OS shows only 8GB.

Could there be a setting which is limiting the amount of RAM the BIOS can see?

Regards,
Justin

Thanks for your time camiloml. Is there any chance that serial console redirection is unlockable when using the remote access card?

Serial console redirection settings are typically under Advanced > IPMI Configuration. It may look like this:
