Hi guys,

I have several HP OEM Adaptec SmartHBA 2100-4i4e 8-Port SAS 12Gbps host bus adapter cards and need some help to get them to the latest firmware.

The SmartHBA 2100 is made by Adaptec/Microsemi/Microchip but years ago HP has sold the same card as a HP branded option for some of its workstations (the HP pn is 858096-001). The HP card is physically identical to the original Adaptec SmartHBA 2100-4i4e, however the HP card (often called the HPWS variant because of the two large stickers on both sides of the card) uses a modified version of the Adaptec firmware which lacks RAID5 support and which seems to have a different ID than the original Adaptec firmware as trying to flash the latter into a HPWS variant of that controller using the flash tool (ARCCONF) results in a firmware mismatch error.

The HPSW firmware is also stuck on version 1.98 from 2018 while the firmware for the original Adaptec version has been subsequently updated to now version 7.81, and between 1.98 and the later versions there have been a long list of changes which massively improved the performance of the controller, and its reliability. But with being stuck on the HP specific firmware, the HPWS version of the SmartHBA 2100 is unable to benefit from these improvements (and HP has already forgotten it ever offered this controller).

Being able to cross-flash the HPWS cards to stock Adaptec firmware would be great. For making this work, I suppose there are only two options:

Modify a new Adaptec FW file to match the ID of the HPSW FW so it can be flashed - but this would require having to do the modification again when a new FW comes out

Modify the Adaptec ARCCONF tool (which is used to flash the firmware of these controllers) so it can be used to force-flash the Adaptec FW into a HPWS card

The second option (modifying the flash tool to allow cross-flashing ) is the better option as a single flash with the Adaptec firmware should be enough to make the HPSW variant into a regular Adaptec variant.

I'm not a software developer so I can't do this on my own, hence the request here. But I'm far from the only person with this problem, there are lots of folks with these HPWS cards and which are stuck on the ancient firmware. The HPWS cards are also a lot cheaper on the 2nd hand market which would make them a great option if they could be cross-flashed.

The last HP firmware for the HPWS variant can be downloaded here:

So I want to install H410 H V3 BIOS' OpRom code to my X470 K4 BIOS.

Hi, I need modification of this original bios that comes from HP 15-ah151sa MB ACW51 LA-C502P rev1.0. I need to ENABLE DVD DRIVE and DVD DRIVE BOOT option in BIOS. As this laptop doesn't come with DVD DRIVE CONNECTOR I had to solder it on the motherboard. Now I have to enable it in BIOS but have no clue how to do it. I bought this laptop without HDD and HDD cable. It's impossible to buy HDD cable for this model (at least I couldn't find it anywhere). So my idea is to use a DVD-Drive->HDD-Drive Adapter (inside the laptop) and install HDD in DVD Bay.

Can anybody enable DVD drive and DVD boot in bios, please?

Thank you.
I also plan on stuffing a modified Xeon in it as soon as it arrives (it has a Pentium E5200 on it now).

Can I request two separate BIOS's, one that supports 771 and one that supports standard 775 processors?

I'm currently running the F13e BIOS.

HI, I AM BACK WITH NEW HARDWARE,
Hi, guys, there is new-old hardware in my hands.

It has several problems:

1/. Windows 7 and SSD: P1 Crucial: CT1000P188D8 M.2/PCX connector onboard'
W7 Can't see it,

2/. There is a need for update OROM " TO BEST POSSIBLE "
working in line with 15 edition level of drivers and software for RST,
as finally have to migrate my actual systems to this SSD.
(there is something with Certificate for 15.9 RST in Win-Raid Fernando modded driver. W7 says 15.9 from Fernando is not valid for the system due to lack of Ceryficaste but Cert from Fernando attached to file is registering, there must be a small typo somewhere in files.

There is mentioned that solution for this is an update from MS but I did not find
the numbers of updates, as they are around in the form of an addition to WIM.

3/. As I mentioned in Win-Raid forum I can not install new system per
certification f software and drivers for my peripherals so have to use the systems installed before Certs expired... and have some copies of them and using them for setup W7 system on the PC.

and get rid of firmware related to IME.

So far I did a mod for visibility and possibility to boot from it in BIOS from P1 Crucial: CT1000P188D8 M.2
It is uploaded there, can someone check it and say if I did it the proper way.
Basic revision is F6 higher revisions F7 and F8 are not really well described, so most people say these revs were made for compatibility with Intel 5 platform, implementing even wilder IME spyware to life and they are changing plenty as there is note "this upgrade is irreversible" to F6 and lower. Intel 5 line has IME completely inbuild in CPU so it will be much more hard to get rid of it, but I know the work is in progress.
anyway im looking into buying a nvme drive with and a m.2 to pcie adapter (maybe the kingston hyper x predator for example) my motherboard is a asus rampage formula iv. i haven't found allot of info online in terms of booting an operating system from a pcie express lane but it looks like im going to need a custom bios mod to allow this to happen. i found a Thread saying that you could mod the bios with nvme modules from a x99 board but i literally have no idea how to do that or if the guy is trolling. im also not 100% certain on what i need to do to be able to boot from a nvme drive if its as simple as installing an operating system i will be fine. im also planing on using windows 10 of cause. if someone could share a little advice and equip me with the right tools and info i would be much appreciative. thanks in advance
one other thing that i may consider doing is raiding two predator hyper x cards together as announced in this post would it be possible to do that with a bios hack as well? this is something i may consider doing in the future but knowing now will be a big help so i don't over plan or anything. i understand this type of technology is fairly new so if you ppl cant help me out. then just tell me. i would rather not know then have an uninformed incorrect answer (i have seen this happen allot. like going to your local retail store and asking for advice. people telling you that wall powered 3g/4g modems don't exist even tho you where looking at them online an hour ago for Example)

Hello everyone,
I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M73 Tiny PC with a normal 2.5 SATA hdd, I looked at the motherboard which had solder markings and room for an optional msata 1 slot, so I headed online and got a port and soldered it onboard. Then I inserted my msata ssd hoping for the magical upgrade to do its thing, but unfortunately it didn't appear in the BIOS. I noted that in the bios screen it only shows SATA 1 and no other port. So I was hoping if ant of the experts out there can help me out and unlock/add the extra SATA port?

Note: I found the same motherboard (m4500q model) with working msata port on one of the chinese sites online. (http://club.lenovo.cn/detail/897726)

Which confirms that it's possible
