Hey! I just brought a new SSD for my Asus K50ID but I can't install either windows or linux on it! Windows just freezes and Ubuntu installer gives me error 30 (read only) no matter what I do. I was able to install on it when it was put into another computer and even boot up on the installed system with the first computer, but then same problem, it's read only. I tried to google around and ask in the ubuntu forums and they all say it's about AHCI-settings, something I can't find in my K50ID BIOS.

Is there anyway to enable, mod, or go around this whole thing? I'd really like not to just have wasted 50$ on a drive that doesn't work with my computer.

G'day,

I recently installed a 250GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD into my ASUS EeePC 1002HA and ran the Samsung Magician software - which informed me that AHCI is disabled for SSD and that the system must boot in AHCI mode for best performance.

However, the standard BIOS Version 1004 does not have the option to select AHCI....

CPU & Chipset are Intel Atom N280 & Intel 945GSE / ICH7-M, which should support AHCI from what I have read in this forum.

I have been following similar threads on this site where AHCI was expertly exposed for the 1000HE amongst other Eee PC's and would be extremely grateful if a BIOS modding guru could show me the way to enlightenment....

Also interested in possible BIOS overclocking mods that may be available for the 1002HA - I have found an option using SetFSB but I reckon a BIOS mod would be superior.

Great website and thanks to all who take the time to read this thread....

Hi guys,

First sorry for my bad english, i hope u guys understand it and will help me because i am verry tired with this problem and asus don't want to help me , they says to return laptop to replace motherboard and it will cost me 500 euro.

I explain my problem,

I have aasus laptop type X750LN and it works great but i wanted to change the hdd in to an SSD like my older laptop msi.
When i replaced the hdd with the ssd i booted the laptop and he asked my for a password ( i never set a password).
So i hit enter and went to bios , but now i can't change nothing , not even boot setup , ashi, nothing , just the date .....
i rebooted several time but still the same , so i put the original hdd back in and the system just boot normally to windows , so i go back to the bios and he asked me again a password and i still can't change nothing in bios.
(ps with ssd it won't boot , it go till bios not further).

so i contact the store where i buy it and they send me to asus, so i go to asus and they said it's my fault, they have to replace mobo and cpu and it will cost me 500 euros .....

sorry but i can't pay that ....

Can u guys pls mod my bios so i can change some things pls .... i just want to change settings to achi , change my boots and be able to put an ssd in .

Hi,

Trying to enable AHCI on my Toughbook but without result.
I do the following...
Capture current bios using the AMI Aptio tool. Open captured image with AMIBCP and navigate to Debug -> SATA Configuration. In this section there is a 2 columns called Failsafe and Optimal. In bios have no option to select which one but anyway .. I try to change all options to AHCI and to enable all of the ports and a lot of other scenarios but still have no success.
Is there anybody who is most familiar with BIOS Modification just to give me some advice how to enable force the AHCI instruction.

The chipset I am sure support the AHCI it is ICH9-M

Thank you very much in advance for everybody.

Hi,
I am looking to modify my nt425h to enable ahci. It uses an Ami bios.

Could anyone be of help? I attached the Bios file. Some advanced settings would also be nice like overclocking etc. The bios has almost no options.

Edit: I found a Bios that works here on this forum:.
