Hello everyone,
I own a dell inspiron 5423(14z) which I very much bought with my own hard earned cash. Im a very tech inquisitive guy and a few months ago I decided to set an admin password, sadly I have forgotten this password now. I have scoured the net to find means to unlock the bios to no avail, with some sites demanding payment in return for the unlock code. the sad thing is I live in a remote place on the planet where we don't even have paypal.
Therefore my problem is this, can I use the recovery methods described on this site to force flash the recovery( as if it were bricked) just in order to get rid of the lock.
PS: I desperately need to change the boot settings in order to install fresh copy of windows otherwise my laptop is trash. However if there is any other method available pls show me how to do it. Thanks in advance
Dell N7110 A13 BIOS Recovery bootable iso
Preparation:

* get a working PC with internet and cd burner, burning software to burn ISO file and a emty cdrom.
* download this file , extract it from the RAR archive, then burn the ISO to a CD.

* put the CDrom at the bricked dell n7110 optical drive and turn the machine off.

Procedure:

1- turn off your bricked dell n7110 laptop and put the recovery cdrom inside the optical drive.
2- unplug the power cord, and press End button.
3- plug the power cable, and then you relase the End button fast. (the machine should start automatically without push the power button)
4- the bios start reading the cdrom, it load BIOS.cap file from the cdrom.
5- you have to hit F12 fast when the dell splash screen is at the screen, it will bring the device boot menu, then select cdrom. (if you didnt hit f12 in time, you will have to power off the machine and repeat the whole procedure again)
6- bartpe - windows xp will start being loaded.
7- when you are at the main screen, click NO on the network message box. then click the GO button and click "Command Prompt(CMD)" open a cmd prompt. and type "repair" without the quotes, that will launch my main script (Dont close the CMD window, it still needed to reboot the system.)
8- follow the script instructions, it is a little modified script from my main custom bioses.
9- since the automatic reboot didnt worked for the winflash in that boot cd, my script will do it, just wait after the winflash window is closed and the system will autorestart.
10- black screen for some seconds and the flashing screen will appear , if the flashing procedure ends correctly, your BIOS should be working back ^^ (this recovery method installs A13 stock BIOS)preparation

Greetings everyone!

My first post here... It's been a while for me since I was into this stuff, over 20 years ago I did some BIOS mods and performance tweaking. May as well have been 200 years ago, brain no work good no more and for the life of me, I can't recall the foggiest notion of how to modify a BIOS file or even what any of it all means. I even hacked a Dell desktop to allow Vcore adjustment and overclocking, including core clock, FSB mult and even system RAM voltage & timing--all on a Dell!

I used to be decent at it, now years later it's *all* gone.

Reason I want to get back into it is I'm hard up for cash, leaving me with the computer I have today, an archaic Dell Inspiron 530, and I want to squeeze all the performance I can get out of it.

Here goes:
Dell Inspiron 530 (micro ATX, not the slim-case 'S' model)
DG33M03 motherboard
Core2 Quad Q6600
Phoenix AwardBIOS 1.0.18, Service Tag 1B77YF1 (If that means anything!)
8GB XMS2 DDR2 RAM (all of it works with 1.0.18 Dell BIOS)

The stock Q6600 clock rate is 2.4 GHz, however I have done the BSEL mod with a bit of black electrical tape, allowing it to run at 3.0 GHz and increasing the FSB speed from 1066 to 1333 MHz. It still runs cool and dead-reliable with the stock heatsink and fan, but I still want to squeeze the utmost performance from this aging rig to avoid spending cash I don't have I simply haven't been able to find a P5Q or GA-EP45-UD3P locally, so I'm hunting for a Dell BIOS mod.

Has anyone ever successfully modded the Inspiron DG33M03 BIOS to access Vcore, core clock, FSB multiplier and RAM voltage/timing parameters? If so, could I please have the modded BIOS? There are many threads/posts but no definitive answer as to whether this has been done successfully.

If I was willing to try this myself, where and how would I go about re-learning it all essentially from scratch? I guess I'm asking a lot, but thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

Peace

Hello again Guru!! Been a long time since i've posted but once again I am in need of help!
I've got a Inspiron 530 stock. So far I managed to find your guys page on the bios mod for it and downloaded and installed it.
The DellInspiron530-18-RAID87-IBA1363-AHCI120E0027-VGA1653.zip.
Amazing bios mod by the way guru's! Plus 1!
I am running raid 0 with a reseated cpu, 3.5 gbs of ram, high performance fans and a dedicated video card. Windows 7 64 bit installed 100% successful. The setup is awesome for a original gaming computer but the cpu is seriously lacking even with the optimizations implemented.
I am in desperate need of overclocking options and memory options to be unlocked in this bios. The original link on that forum does not work (aka the experimental version). And yes I know of the bsel mod, have done it a number of times on older boards but I would extreamly rather have overclocking options.
Thank you guru's for your time once again and I hope to hear from you soon!
I am going to have a look at unlocking the A08 BIOS and if I manage to do it then I will post those files here also ;-)
NOTE: I have been toying with the NVIDIA BIOS settings but it always complains that the file is 'X' Bytes too big when I try to repack it and am not getting much help back...

EDIT: I think I understand how to unlock the options, but PBE 2.2.13 (Which I have had to run in a VM due to it containing a virus) says "ROMEXEC Failed" so unless someone can offer help to bypass that I have hit a wall.
Hi all,
I decided to rewrite the first post to include all the links so it's more clear for people who will stumble across this topic later. As of now A13 is unlocked. Since Dell considers the Inspiron 1564 to be a legacy device we can safely say A13 is going to be the final bios revision of these models.
Mirrors for all files have been added so please download from mirrors unless they're down, in that case use bios-mods and report the broken link here.

Hi all,
I decided to rewrite the first post to include all the links so it's more clear for people who will stumble across this topic later.
If the bios is newer or the same version then use the method described here. This method is preferred since flashing under Windows is considered more dangerous.
If PHLASH16 is giving you errors then use the one linked below, flashed without a flaw for me.
Download Phlash16 [Mega|Dropbox|Bios-mods]
As always flashing any BIOS is at your own risk, if your laptop explodes, your coffee became cold while researching this or whatever, it is just your own fault, just deal with it.
