Hello to all forum users and users of Sony Vaio VGN-AR21S notebooks.

I'm desperate looking for halp for open/hacked bios ver. R0162J6 for my Sony Vaio AR21S.
It would be great and much helpfull for me.
I spend a many days on my AR21S to try install Win 8.1 Pro 64-bit into my vaio with 2x SeagateHDD included on the vaio mobo with permament swiched ON RAID mode.
The problem is what Windows 8.1 Pro can not run the installation boot on the Vaio AR21S with permament swiched ON the RAID0 / RAID1 mode.

Latest version of my bios is:
https://www.sony.pl/support/pl/content/c.../VGN-AR21S

I would be happy if we could:
- Enable / disable the VT register
- Enable / disable DEP register
- Enable / disable AHCI
and most desirable for me option:
- Disable the RAID mode and instead be able to activate the mode SATA / AHCI in Latency, so that both drives were seen independently and separately on the windows system.
- turn on the possibility to add 2x4GB RAM

I dont know, maybe is it possible to open/show all Advanced functions on the bios menu ?

I found the cmos code like below:
BIOS VERSION R0162J6
VT REGISTER (0318) - [0001]
AHCI REGISTER (00FC) - [0001]
DEP REGISTER (031B) - [0001]
but I'm not sure if they are OK, because I'm introduced these moded changes into my cmos and dont see any effects.

I would like to add to my vaio 2x4GB DDR2-800MHz and 2xSSD 256GB Crutial MX100.
Vaio AR21S is very comfortable laptop with greate display, bur I'm desapoiting of Sony politics to close all important bios options ...... so I'm not surprised that they turn away customers from SONY.
The more that have very expensive equipment. My laptop cost nearly 3,000 euros when I bought it and is still great and sufficiently equipped for future windows systems.

I hope for your help.

best regards

Im confused. (and also posted in the unlocked section by accident 1st)

I extracted the BIOS of this VAIO...and just read that I cant flash this one back.

Only original downloaded BIOS files can be flashed.

So, as there is no download for this laptop...maybe there is an alternative BIOS ?
(VGN-AR760U & VGN-AR730E & VGN-AR61ZRU & VGN-AR61M & VGN-AR61S seem to have the same BIOS (R2080J8)...but also only in extracted form)

But hippotek managed to combine a "real" bios and an extracted BIOS it seems :
inserting platform information from R0032J8 into R2080J8

Anyway, my Laptop is a :
-Core2Duo T5450 @1.67ghz
-Motherboard: SANTA ROSA CRB
-4gb RAM
-GeForce 8400M GT (128MB)

bios R2080J8 (12/26/2007) (SLiC 2.0)

dxdiag BIOS Ver 1.00PARTTBL
gpuz says 60.86.3b.00.27

The BIOS I extracted can be viewed and edited with Andys Phoenix tool and with the Phoenix Bios Editor Pro.
It also has the nvidia roms inside which can be edited using NiBiTor (6.0.6).

There are a lot of strings mentioning sub menus, thermal menus, multiplicators etc. and I wonder if these are all just string-remnants or if it can be all unlocked/activated/unhidden.

I wanted to be sure and put the extracted bios on a bootable floppydisk using plash16.exe. Result :

That doesnt look too promising...

Also I read about enabling virtualization :
In any case, register x0285 is the magic one for the AR730E/B with BIOS R2080JB.

That VAIO has the same BIOS...but ofc my CPU does not support VT. But it should be inside the BIOS then.(?)
Congrats for this forum!

I also have a request for you. Please unlock everything that can be unlocked, including TPM section and include SLIC 2.1. I'll be using Win7 Ultimate SP1.

I do not know what is to be modified, or if after unlocking I'll find the settings in the menus. Now i have 2Gb DDR2 PC5300/667Mhz CL5 and I want to upgrade to 4Gb PC6400/800Mhz CL4 memory. Lots of people found that is not working, because BIOS settings. Do you know if this problem can be resolved by unlocking? It can be tweaked from new unlocked BIOS?

The third problem is to enable VT (virtualization technology) and AHCI. Can I enable/disable this after unlocking? Otherwise i have to go through the guide from here (http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/189...aptop.html). Not a problem, just asking.

Could you help me with whitelist for WWAN also please, or I'll do that after unlocking in separate section?

Thanks, Regards, Suriamon

My main problem is that my notebook cannot use more than 3GB of RAM. Could You make custom BIOS that supports up to 4GB (2x2GB)

FE31Z is based on Mobile Intel ® 945PM Express Chipset and it can address up to 4GB.

It would be nice also if You make additional advenced options ie. cas latencies, memory speed, cpu speed).
Thanks.
If you can unlock something, please tell me.

Thank you very much to all.

PD/One question, previously installed in another Sony Vaio UX 280P R0112N2 Mod BIOS, but removing the battery died (black screen), probably is not really compatible with this model (there is no bios for the UX 280P R0112N2).

The question is, can be recovered by flashing the BIOS via USB?

Is it possible?

thank you very much
