Hi everyone,

I’m an IT technician, programmer, and longtime PC enthusiast. I’m reaching out to this community in hopes of finding some information—or ideally, a modded BIOS—for my Lenovo ThinkCentre M75q-1 (AMD processor with Vega 8 integrated graphics).

I am currently working on a Hackintosh project and trying to boot macOS on this machine. Because it’s an AMD APU, macOS strictly requires a minimum of 512MB of allocated VRAM from the BIOS to boot successfully. Unfortunately, my UMA Frame Buffer Size is completely locked at 256MB.

Beyond just hitting the 512MB minimum, I am also curious: is it possible to unlock even higher VRAM allocations (e.g., 1GB or 2GB)? If anyone has experience with this, I'd love to know the practical implications and performance benefits of doing so on this Vega 8 setup. Additionally, are there any hardware repercussions, stability issues, or known risks (like memory mapping errors or overheating) associated with forcing this modification on this specific Lenovo motherboard?

What I’ve tried so far:

Official Updates: I've tested the latest official BIOS (available here: https://support.lenovo.com/it/it/downloa...75q-1/1000 ).

Downgrading: I tried downgrading to various 2021 BIOS versions, as some users reported the UMA setting was accessible back then, but the option remained unavailable.

Third-Party Tools: I booted into Smokeless UMAF (Universal AMD Form Browser) to try and bypass the hidden menus and force the change. Unfortunately, it seems these specific AMD CBS/PBS options are completely "armored" or hardcoded on this board, and I couldn't alter the Frame Buffer size.

Does anyone have a modded BIOS for the M75q-1 that unlocks the Advanced Menus or specifically allows changing the UMA Frame Buffer Size? Alternatively, if anyone knows a workaround or a specific variable to edit via EFI shell to unlock this setting, I would greatly appreciate the guidance.

Please note that I do not currently own a hardware programmer (like a CH341A). However, if a direct hardware flash is the only way to bypass Lenovo's protections, I am absolutely willing to purchase one to get this done.

Thanks in advance for your time and expertise! AdoniS4U

Hello everyone!

I have a Thinkpad X250 with a modded BIOS including advanced BIOS menu and CFG bit unlocked. It is running macOS Monterey and everything works (almost) perfectly, there is a strange problem with Hibernation which I can't figure where it comes from.

The thing is when I put the laptop into Hibernation, it shuts down well and resume perfectly when I turn it on again, but on the next boot it throws me this error "0251: System CMOS Checksum bad - Default configuration used". I've litteraly tried everything on macOS/OpenCore side with HibernationFixup, RTCMemoryFixup, by targetting the RTC offsets which shouldn't be written but it seem that it doesn't changes anything. The problem is not present with Linux/Windows and macOS when I use Standby S3 sleep.

So my new idea is to see if it is possible to mod the BIOS to disable warnings related to this CMOS error, the UEFI module in question is named "DxeCmosInit".

Does anyone has any idea how to do this? The BIOS file is attached to this post. Or alternatively do you think it's possible to just remove the DxeCmosInit module from the BIOS, will it work?

Thanks a lot!

Hello...

They have given me a Thinkpad L390 that I love, I have installed MacOS Ventura and it works very well...

But I have a problem, the wiffi is intel... I have several full work wiffi cards at home in MacOS, but I have put it on this laptop and the wiffi does not show up, not even in windows as a PCI device, it's like I didn't put the card in the slot, instead the Bluetooth yes...

So, before making a copy of the bios with the SPI programmer, I wanted to ask you if the wifi card I'm talking about could be activated with a bios MOD, which is the following:

https://www.ebay.es/itm/174776123154?_tr...1465.m3507

Is that this laptop has an Intel AC 9560 which is CNVi... and the wifi BCM94360NG is NGFF and I don't know if the laptop will detect it even with a bios MOD???

Thank you so much

Sup folks! I've got a new laptop (ACER ASPIRE E5-573G-55MH) and decided to install macOS on it. However, I need to disable CFG Lock in BIOS but I can't find it anywhere (I've tried to look in advanced tab too). I don't know how to dump bios, it's giving me an error.

BIOS: https://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles...SC=EMEA_22
Can anyone help me out? I will appreciate if so. Thhanks!
