Hi Folks!

I have got an IBM Aptiva 2168-931 (Service Level H) with an rather unusual Opti Viper PCI chipset. With a custom VRM-Module from Necroware it is possible to employ every conceivable Socket-7-CPU, up to an AMD K6 3+ with 400 MHz. The respective CPUs are shown in BIOS as "Pentium" - which is fine with me.

There is one catch: the mainboard accepts CPUs to a clock frequency of 166 MHz. Even a non-MMX 200 MHz Pentium will produce an error 127, the CPU-Frequency is then recognized with 0 MHz. However, after exiting the BIOS, the PC runs fine, regardless of the frequency.

Hi! I have this old Acer Veriton X2630G which originally came with an Intel core I3-4130. Some years ago I have upgraded the CPU to an I7-4790, but since then I can't actually reboot the pc, only power it on and off. It seems like the reboot function doesen't work anymore on my pc, just the shutdown one. It actually doesen't depens on the OS since it has the same problem over Windows and Linux.

I was thinking into transforming the PC into a router with opnsense, but I need to be able to reboot it if it's necessary, so I'm asking here if it's possible to mod the bios in order to get it working.

It's running the latest bios available on the Acer website.

If you need some other info I'll provide them.

Thanks

Hello,
I have a Dell PowerEdge SC430 bios version A04 (Phoenix) with a Pentium D 925 and 4GB RAM running on the iGPU and Debian 12 installed. I would love to upgrade it with a Core 2 Quad Q9500 and an Radeon RX460, but I can't because of the BIOS. The RX460 works fine with only 2GB RAM inserted, but it hangs with 4 GB, so I think the issue is with memory remapping/memory hole on the Intel 3000 chipset, which apparently supports it in hardware but Dell doesn't offer this option in the settings. About the Q9500, the socket and TDP are not a problem, it doesn't currently work because the bios doesn't understand the microcode blob (0x10677) and probably has a whitelist of validated CPUs.

So I would like to request the following modifications to the BIOS:
[*]* Memory remapping enabled for Intel 3000 chipset
[*]* Q9500 microcode (CPUID 0x10677) added and CPU whitelist patched
[*]
https://dl.dell.com/bios/SC430A04.BIN

Tell me if I have to provide something additionally because I'm not really knowledgeble in BIOSes.
Thank you!

Hi,

I have an Fujitsu Esprimo D756/E9X (not sure if 94 or 90). It came with an Intel Core i3-6100.

I am using it as a homelab server. It's sufficient so far, but as more users find themselves using the server I thought it may be time for an upgrade. Thus I did some research and found the Intel Xeon E3-1245v5. It uses the same socket and some pages/articles claim they are compatible with the Q150 chipset of the D3431. I even found a store selling the Esprimo D756 with the Intel Xeon 1275v5.
The store: https://www.workstation4u.de/Konfigurati...0404010114

I bought the CPU and went to try it out... Upon powering on the system I can hear a relais click (from the PSU) and the power light on the front briefly turns on - then it turns off again.

The BIOS Version is R1.28.

Can anyone give me some more insight or maybe even point me to a solution?
Maybe a BIOS update is enough, maybe there is a modded BIOS or it is just restricted by Intel and/or Fujitsu.
I also can't entirely rule out I have a defective Xeon chip.

Thanks
Is there any bios of this mobo that could support my Sandy Bridge Xeon e3 1245, because rigjht now I get no response, and looking through the net there seems to be a feeling that only i3/i5/i7 Sandy Bridge cpu's are supported. In my case the corresponding one would have been the i7 2600. Yet I am not sure.

Hello guys. I have an old laptop HP Compaq 6730b with C2Duo P8400 and I have bought the quad-core Q9000 in order to increase its performance. The online seller told me that this CPU IS supported by my laptop’s chipset GE45/GM45.

So I bought Q9000 and immediately updated the BIOS to its latest version, F.20 (date December 2011). Despite that, the laptop refuses to boot with Q9000. It is booting normally only with CPU P8400 and T9600.

I made an online research and found out that indeed my chipset supports C2Q but the basic problem is that the necessary CPU microcodes are missing from the BIOS. So I have two questions:

Can someone more experienced edit the latest F.20 BIOS for me in order to inject the necessary microcodes for supporting Core2Quad Q9000/Q9100?

Would I be able to reflash my laptop with the modded version of F.20 BIOS or not? I know that some laptops accept ONLY NEWER BIOS versions and refuse flashing lower versions or even same versions.

Thanks.
