Hi, First time posting here literally a newbie on the whole modding scene.

Recently got a Dell Precision 3431 with an i7 7900 and I plan on eventually upgrading that to i9 9900 (still looking for a good deal), few hours ago I came across a facebook marketplace post on a Dell Optiplex 3050 barebones for a really good price and noticed that it shares the same socket as my i7.

Is it possible at all to use my i7 9700 on a Optiplex 3050?

Saw mix answers, so I wanted to ask here since I've seen some people have relative success in doing so.

Hello guys. I have an old laptop HP Compaq 6730b with C2Duo P8400 and I have bought the quad-core Q9000 in order to increase its performance. The online seller told me that this CPU IS supported by my laptop’s chipset GE45/GM45.

So I bought Q9000 and immediately updated the BIOS to its latest version, F.20 (date December 2011). Despite that, the laptop refuses to boot with Q9000. It is booting normally only with CPU P8400 and T9600.

I made an online research and found out that indeed my chipset supports C2Q but the basic problem is that the necessary CPU microcodes are missing from the BIOS. So I have two questions:

Can someone more experienced edit the latest F.20 BIOS for me in order to inject the necessary microcodes for supporting Core2Quad Q9000/Q9100?

Would I be able to reflash my laptop with the modded version of F.20 BIOS or not? I know that some laptops accept ONLY NEWER BIOS versions and refuse flashing lower versions or even same versions.

Thanks.

Hello there, I'm a bit of a newbie around here, thanks for letting me join your community.

I've seen that some magic has been possible with the Optiplex 7060 to enable higher gen support to the BIOS so I'm asking if one of you BIOS mod expert around here can do something for the Optiplex 7050.

I have one laying around at the moment and I use it for daily driving, I'd like to do a bit more gaming with it though and I was thinking of a CPU upgrade, it came with an i7-6700, I know I can upgrade to a 7700 without modifications but I'd love to rock a 6 or 8 cores CPU on it and the 7th gen doesn't seem to have any CPU that has more than 4 cores...

All I know for sure at the moment is that the Optiplex 7050 uses an LGA 1151 socket and a Q270 chipset.

I found contradicting information on the internet that could lead me to believe it could be modded to support 8th or even 9th gen CPUs but that it could involve pin mods on the CPU, I'm ready to go through it if it that is what it takes, it seems that it'd be easier with a 300 chipset but I like modding stuff around for better perfs even though I have never tried to use bios mods before, I'd like to give it a try

So I come to you guys to know what can really be done with the Optiplex 7050 because for now all the info I found did not seem to very reliable and your modding community seems to achieve a lot of cool stuff so I figure at least some of you must be knowledgeable to figure if something can be done

Hello everyone!

I have recently acquired an old desktop PC running Windows XP.
Here's some info about it:

Motherboard: Foxconn P4M8907SA-RS2H

Chipset: VIA P4M890 + VT8237R Plus

CPU: Intel Celeron D 336, LGA775

RAM: 2GB

Integrated graphics (64MB, S3 Graphics UniChromeTM Pro IGP)

However, I'd want to make this PC work with a better CPU I have, which is the Intel Core 2 Duo E7300, as I primarily want faster web browsing and flash games.

According to the manufacturer's (archived) website, it should support the Intel Core 2 Duo.
However, when I tested it, it didn't work. There was no beep, no POST and nothing displayed on the screen.

Is there any way to modify the BIOS to make it support that CPU?

I've found a BIOS for my motherboard here, which is attached to this post (634F1P15.zip, dated 2006).
I also attached my own BIOS dump, which is older, that I dumped using Award WinFlash 1.94 (awdbios.bin), although I'm not sure if the way I dumped it is correct.
Lastly, I've attached the CPU-Z report as a TXT file and a screenshot of both the CPU and mainboard tabs.

Hello everyone, I have a Dell Precision T3600 with a Xeon E5-1607. I would like to upgrade the CPU to something in the Ivy Bridge EP series of Xeons (E5-XXXX v2), but Dell's BIOS prevents such things. The T3610 supports E5 v2 chips and I have heard that people have cross flashed, but also that some people have bricked their T3600 by doing so. The BIOS that Dell provides only provides support for Sandy Bridge EP, and I would like to put E5 v2 CPUs in my Precision. My Precision has a C600 chipset, and for some reason dell provides support for the PowerEdge servers with the C600/X79 chipset but not the C600 chipset in the Precision. I am a complete noob at such things and would like help with modding the BIOS.
