If its a chipset limitation then i dont think theres much we can do - We can only work to the limits of the actual hardware!

Sorry

Hi 1234s282 and TheWiz,
Thanks for all your help with this problem. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and update my system!

You've been a great help, so thank you again.
Hello, I know this is an old thread, but I have the same issue with a couple of mobile 3700+ chips. Besides the heat spreader issue (simple fix), any reason why a mobile 3700+ wouldn't work with this old ECS board?

I have tried two versions of the mobile 3700+ with no success. (currently using a desktop 3200+)

The first I tried months ago:
AMN3700BKX5BU
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Mob...KX5BU.html
I noticed this was designed for a lower voltage, plus I read somewhere where the stock BIOS supported up to CG stepping...
-So I finally found this one to try:
AMA3700BEX5AR
http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD-Mob...EX5AR.html
Correct voltage, etc. and seems to be the same as the desktop version in every way except it uses "Power Now!" -but it does not work (I flashed the most recent BIOS posted to this thread). Could the power management be the reason? Thanks!
