The bios update has a bios rom in it. Your just not looking in the right place Wink Don't assume that all files are packed in a standard way that archiving software like Winrar and WinZip can understand.

And I have no expirence with preforming the recovery procedure on Acer computers. Try a couple of the methods mentioned in the generic Insyde bios recovery procedure here.

Get it.I will try to use Virtual Machine or something else to get the original .fd file to test the recovery first. If it works well,I will try your modded BIOS Blush
Hey Donovan, I'm sorry my laptops hard drive went bad on my brand new laptop lol so I took it back. Had to wait a few days for the new one to com to the store. Now I replaced the hdd on the new one with the Samsung 840 evo ssd this laptop is bad a$$ now! Before that happened I tried to flash the modded bios and it did the same thing as before it wouldn't flash.

As I said I would do I'll donate 5 for your effort for now check your paypal. You get my bios settings unlocked I would donate more. I ran into an unexpected bill this week so had to wait. But I am worried also bricking my computer The last modded bios won't flash. And I see you don't have experience with acer I really hope somebody finds out how to unlock the settings i'll donate 20 usd.
Thanks for the donation. Can't wait to by a happy meal Smile

I'm still not sure how to get modded bios to work for new Acers. When a new rom is flashed it doesn't overwrite the old rom. And when it restarts, the old rom validates the new rom before passing control to it. So we need to either modify the existing rom somehow or determine how the modded rom is being verified. I'll check is for standard hashes, like SHA-1 and MD5 today.
Lol happy meal.. too funny! But yeah I appreciate it man ill research more how to restore my bios in case something goes wrong and on my laptop my bios version is 2.02 now maybe check the 2.05 version it's on acer website. maybe will have better luck with the earlier version? Again thanks.

Sooo. anybody figure out unlocking this bios?
Hello. I am looking into unlocking some features in the BIOS on my laptop. I did a bit of digging, and it looks like a simple hex edit should unlock the BIOS, but I am unable to determine what values I need to change. I am basically wanting to increase the dedicated video memory for my laptop. After looking, similar V5 laptops, after modifying the BIOS, are able to change this option. It should be in the hidden menus. I am just unable to determine what values I need to change. Or I could be completely mistaken, which could very well be the case.

Not sure how I can extract the BIOS image from the exe. I opened it in 7zip, and it doesn't have an obvious image file. Looks like it polls a server and pulls the image from Acer's servers. To be honest, I am completely lost. I have never modified any form of BIOS in my life. If anyone can help me out, I would really appreciate it. And of course, donation and everything.
